Hi, I am having trouble with the wiring of my 1974 RD250B. In my haste and attempt to take the wiring out of the rear casing of the headlight i lost the correct connections, and no matter how many wiring diagrams i look at i'm not getting anywhere. What i need is a picture of the wiring connections of say another RD250B so that i can copy the connections, even if it is just the fundamentals.

Otherwise its off to the Motorbike Electrician, who may or may not want to tackle the job.

    Any help would be grand.

    Thats a good looking machine!

Now if everything is still connected and connected correctly from the handle bar switchgear then I would use one of these to sort out what is what.

Tape up the bare wires while not testing them so they dont short when the batt is connected and u switch things on
    Label them as u go.

Does the headlight shell have warning lights in it as well?

Are the front blinkers wired up?

For starters I would think those black wires with just the open ring (like in your last photo) are earths

It is all colour coded. Yamaha are consistent with their colour coding between models too.
My best educated guess is as follows:

    Black is earth
Milk chocolate brown is switched power from the battery
Red is power from the battery into the main switch

    Yellow high beam
    Green low beam
    Blue instrument lights
Blue with white stripe is to the light switch
Red with yellow stripe to light switch to go to blue?

    Pink horn
Green with yellow stripe brake light switch
    Light blue neutral light

    Olive green right blinker
    Dark brown left blinker
Those two pairs of wires that contain a green wire and an orange wire I assume are non-genuine blinkers.
So try the oranges to the olive green and dark brown and the greens to the black.

The Yamaha orange wire I assume goes to the main switch for the ignition.

    Did I miss anything?
