Partzilla still show 45 USD to ship anything to me. Maybe they have a good deal to send to Aus.

Rex lives :) and no untoward engine noise, thank you Andy :) and there is even oil coming out where it should be(Oil inspection bolts) Cheering, now I get get onto the rest of it. Air bypass needs a bit of tuning, from memory, was 2.5 turns out from full in, and then adjust to best idle but its been a few years since I have had to do that :) Plus, fix brakes, fork seals cosmetics exhaust, etc etc etc Tried to up load a video but said to big, will go to plan B, stay tuned :)

Sounds pretty good, I wouldnt bother trying too hard to tune it till you get a muffler onto it... otherwise you will probably need to do it again...lol
    Well done :)

I ran the carbs though an ultrasound with warm water, a bit of detergent and a bit of turps in it, they came up a treat and bike started straight away and ran pretty good :)

How big is your "new" Ultrasonic cleaner? Mine is only a little one and I can see a 10 litre one on fleabay for $176 plus $10 freight..

Only 2 ltrs, big enough to put carb bits in if you pull em apart, cost just under $100 delivered and has up to 99min timer and also a built in heater that will heat water up to 60c I believe, done a couple of bits in it and worked good so far. Cant remember if I got it from here but this is the one I have, as usual, available from a few OS sites

Ok, that is about the size of my current unit. I might punt for the 10 liter jobbie.

It lives :thumb_ups:. Started really well , nice and quiet , well except for the M.I.A muffler. Hope your going going to return the old oil pump back to the seller and ask for some money back , well he's description was incorrect " it went real good and never had any mechanical issues" , yea right.:headbang:

Well, that's why they say "buyer beware", and why I offered him a substantially lower amount than he asked for, he did not have to accept it :)

At least you know what the internals are like now. If you hadn’t had the noisy piston it could have been a catastrophic failure rather that what you ended up doing.
Sort of a blessing in disguise of sorts.

Yeah worked out well in the end, found the stuffed oil pump gear, crap in the oil line, bolts loose and washers missing stuck spring in big end oil feed....................was a bit of a mess, no wonder is was noisy, but all good now :) am just exploring my stock of mufflers and see if I can use one of them, I can make em all fit but its got to suit the bike eh?

Finally got back into doing some things on my SRX, cleaned out the front brakes, replaced the line with a SSteel one and new fluid. Had hells own problems getting the air out of it, despite putting the fluid in from the bottom with a mega huge syringe. After seeking some advice, and reading a lot of info here on the forums, I how have brakes again :) it was a struggle and I near bought a replacement M/C for it. Its funny, never had a issue before with brakes, this is the first one that has given me problems, but all good now. Also pulled the forks apart, cleaned them out, put new seals in, new fluid as well. My tacho was also not working, when you take the cable out, the drive spins ok, cable good, so I undone the cable of the bottom of the gauge and you can turn it with your finger, Not good :( on closer inspection, the square hole in the drive bit, is now round :( oh joy. A job for another time, who needs a tacho anyway? Getting closer to having a working bike now. The plan is to get it up and running in an unrestored, used but good/sound condition if that makes sense. Then I will worry about tidy paint work etc (maybe?) Oh, I will also need to manufacture a screen for the front fairing and thats about it :)

Lots of stuffing about, tapping with a rubber hammer, straightening line up and hanging it straight with MC at highest point, cable tieing it have closed and leave overnight, every time I go past, give it a few pumps and crack the bleed nipple and get rid of more tiny little air bubbles. That about covers it I think :(

Good stuff... I am kind of dreading doing the twin calipers on mine...dual bleed nipples on each caliper as well.. should be heaps of fun :)
