Was riding my 2000 gsf 250 Bandit and it died mid ride and then wouldn't start using starter, behaving as if battery was low charge started by rolling down the fortunate hill the engine died on but 1 km down the road when i turned on the indicator it immediately cut power and when i switched off the indicator it came back to life and then about another 1km down the road just died again.
Me thinks it is electrical as upon arriving home could get it started using jumper cables to the battery it will start and rev but dies after a minute or so or if i try let it idle. Could it be one of the coils?

Coil typically don't go bad and not intermittently. In rare cases where it dies, it's dead for good permanently.

Most likely it's charging system issue and it's not charging battery. Do the following tests for more data to analyse:

    1. everything OFF, measure battery voltage = ???

    2. jump-start battery to get it started. Disconnect jumper. Measure battery at idle. Voltage = ???

    3. rev engine to 5000rpm. Measure battery, voltage = ???

Yes even the slightest "low" battery voltage in my Daytona 675 and it wont start ... they are renowned for it ... apart from RR and stator not being their strong point initially anyway .... there was even a recall on my first gen model
