Info A little dodge that I came up with some twenty odd years ago

    Re the CDI ignition on the 250 cc Honda RSA I good friend of mine contacted me to say his 250 cc single would not start ! On examination it was traced to no spark further examination revealed that the high voltage winding was open circuit on the alternator . What to do next with very little money the bike was not worth the cost of a new alternator
    The solution (Dodge) was to use a small 12 volt transformer connected across the a pair of the low voltage windings and then using the transformer backwards feed the high voltage to the CDI
    The bike was used like that for two years without any ignition problems whatsoever
    This dodge should also work on the dreams as well
