I need to replace the thermo fan switch which is mounted in the thermostat. I can get a TFS188 from Veale for $34. - http://www.tridon.com.au/products/T...d-sensors/2014/thermo-fan-switches/321/TFS188
Does anyone know the temp range of the stock switch? The one I pulled out of my parts bike is on @ 105. I have no way of knowing if it is stock.
i contacted tridon and spoke with a tech who said it is rated for 5 amps; This sounds enough for a small fan. Anyone know the amp draw @ fan startup on the across?

    thanks Guys

The stock item is $95 but not available locally. Money is super tight. (loads of specialist appointments since the cancer diagnosis)

That fan switch is used on Nissan Patrol's and Ford Maverick's between 1988 and 2001 if you have any self serve wrecker's close by you could pick up a cheap used one

The standard fan switch come's on at appox 105° C and turn's off at approx 100° C going off the service manual.
The service manual has the spec's for the fan switch listed as-
    @ 50° C it should read approx 167 Ω
    @ 120° C it should read approx 17 Ω

That should be the specs for the gauge. The swith should be on or off. @ 50 degrees it should just be open.
If the 105 is listed as standard then the 188 should do the trick providing it can handle the amperage

The switch looks the same as the TFS188, the thread is M16 x 1.5 physically it looks the same as the TFS188. The 188 is used with a relay in its automotive applications, this is why I phoned tridon to get a amperage rating. the suki has no relay so the switch is taking full current. Is there any amp rating in the manual?
The wiring is the different, the suki one has a male and female bullet connector with about a foot of wiring.

Just noticed this is for the bandit 250
from the manual the bandit still mounts the switch in the thermostat housing? The housing looks the same too?
I just noticed on youtube that the bandit redlines @15 000
    My across redlines @ 16 500 and I think the gsxr @ 17 000
So the bandit probably has different cams again? In truth it is probably a more usable everyday engine then?
I got a Yamaha zeal for my son and I think it has more down low than the across.
Of course this is irrelevant as neither has the awesome handbag boot!!!!

Yeah i've bought quite a few bit's and piece's from there, shipping is about the same time as ebay china etc.
Maybe send them a message and check that the switch is 105° C on and 100° C off before you buy it,
there are a few that are 95° C on and 80°/85° C off

Seems to have been nothing more on this... Bandit specs are On at 102 - 108 and off at 97 - 103 so it looks like the TFS188 might be a better option... only looking at this as it appears the one on my Across is non operational.. the gauge goes up close to the red zone and yet the fan doesnt come on. I have swapped the wires and the fan runs, so I know that part is OK...
Looks like I will grab the Tridon and see if that makes a difference.

I messaged sellers on ali express but none would come forward with specs of any kind. A Tridon tech guy phoned me and said that the TFS188 is rated at 5 amp. I think that will do. I already made a plug and play over-ride switch which got me out of trouble in the mean time (I may even keep it when I fix the thermo switch).
I havnt done anything yet as I was diagnosed with cancer, moved house and have since had surgery. I totally forgive myself for the slackness as I my excuse checks out (plus I wanted to just ride as now I am grounded)

2 more weeks and I should be cleared for takeoff

My fan is a bit noisy. So seeing as I have a spare I will lube the bearings and install that after a test run. I might run it through a 2 amp and 5 amp fuse and see what it is drawing (or read the instruction for my multi meter and use that)

Excuse accepted... This time, Moving house is a bitch.. ;)
5 amps should be fine... if I get a chance I will hook my fan up to switch and check the draw this week...
The TFS188 seems to be the go though... correct temp range which is important.

Good to hear you are through the surgery and getting close to clearance for some fun again. Hang in there... 2 weeks is nothing :)
    I will keep you updated..

Hmmm well I went to order the TFS188 and decided not to when advised the price... $85 and I still need to make a lead for it to match into the system.
So no further ahead at this stage stage @rustguard
