    My old cheapie has finally died after many years faithful service .... it was sounding very lumpy last few times and now its blowing air somewhere else other than the air hose :D ..... the on/off button hasnt worked for years and its always leaked oil but it did the job , being mainly tyres , air gun and occasionally the rattle gun or air wrench

    So another basic el cheapo will do just fine ... I was going to get a new one for the new shed but with all the vehicle, trailer, bike tyres that need checking regurlarly + air bags on the 4WD , and even the hand trolley and the wheelbarrow need attention lately with all the site preparation going on here

    This one looks ok on special at Repco currently .... then again I guess they are all the same Chinese components , with different paint and logos

    Then there is the Blackridge HiFow.. 140 lpm free flow.. certainly not under pressure and they are noisy being direct drive.
    I have used one.. in fact I had that before I bought the belt drive one I have now.
    I did a good job.. you can paint with it.. but you couldnt sandblast with it.. .it was just too small.
    Any of those are good buys...

    I have two of those cheapie direct drive ones. They seem to work well and have enough output to feed a small spraygun. Get the one with the best wheels and keep up the maintenance on the air filter to make them last.

    I have one of those noisy Blackridge 2.5 hp direct drive compressors. They go on special regularly & usually come with a spraygun or air tool kit for about 250$.

    Yea the Blackridge was under consideration but as much as reviews are not usually much to go by, I scrubbed it .... but 2 of u have said its extra noisey then that will do for me ....

    I like the look of the Antlia ... and it comes with the extras ... not that I really need them ... and it looks to have solid wheels :thumb_ups: ..... but then the Aeropro looks exactly the same design and its alot cheaper :)

    I think they are cheaper but a lot noisier than the belt drive jobbies.

    I think you'll find the second outlet will be on the opposite side under the switch, opposite side to the bigger gauge,
    so there will be 1 regulated outlet and one full pressure outlet.
    I'm not a fan of the direct drive compressor's, very noisy and low cfm, that compressor is about an 8cfm

    belt drive v twin are more reliable but also more expensive.

    Get yourself a belt drive 12 CFM with an 80 liter tank. They cost a little more initially but they are relatively quiet and so much more usable.
    Even the 2.5hp direct drive jobbies are only any good for tyre inflation.
    Pretty much anything else and you will need hearing protection.
    Use your old compressors tank as extra storage, maybe under a workbench etc.
    better to spend a little extra now.
    I love my 80 liter tanked belt drive unit. One of my better buys.

    So a compressor purchase is on hold .... the Land Cruiser failed rego due to a crack in the panhard bracket ... its a known weak spot and common along with the chassis where this bracket is and the steering box is attached ... so its in for some reworking next week and there wont be much change out of a grand Id say

    been in bunnings today and fullboar 3hp aircompressor 50 litre tank v twin direct drive now down from 379 to 199 at belmont store.hope this helps somebody.

    I think Ill just try to patch up the old one till the new shed is done and maybe look for a good deal on a belt drive or wateva is going
    car repairs for rego were $995

    Ouch.. those sort of bills are a pain.. Probs best to wait...I am sure there will be other good deals without caveats in the near future :)
