Well, I bid farewell to my Mark 1 Aprilia a few weeks back and was somewhat melancholy about it.... on one hand I owned what is quite possibly the best factory prepared 2 stroke road bike ever made, on the other hand it just sat there with the odd blat but wasn't seriously ridden.
So on Monday I am sitting at the airport ready for a work trip to Mt Isa where I spotted a mark 2 RS250 on Gumtree for $2500, I called the buyer and basically it had sat there for the last 3 years as he had lost his license, we bartered back and forth and eventually settled on a price.

Today I drove 6.5 hour round trip to get it from a farm 30 mins past Toowoomba, Im buggered, but wasn't too buggered to hook up the jumper leads and hear her fire up, she already has Castrol TTS in her... you cant mistake that smell :thumb_ups:

She is a long way from perfect, but might be a good long term project.

Looks great mate, in pretty good nick for a 20 year old bike. All the Brisbane 2 strokers should hook up and go for a ride. Now that would look very strange to the younger folk ,all blue smoke a noise.

Looks better than what you described to me on the phone. Certainly don't think we will have to many issues.
Also like colour, perhaps a little easier to keep clean than black. Nice find mate :thumb_ups:

Jeez, at a quick glance I see a 'Busa. The big arched fairing & pillion delete hump does it.

Nice find. Now that you have another one, more than just the occasional blat?

Good score. The best best bits of the later version are the bigger front rim/tyre combo. The rear seat set up looks way racier. Your colour is really nice. The thing I likes most about the early one is the analogue dash layout. Much nicer than the digital. Altho the digital one has a lap timer

    Love it!
Hopefully, those rusty bolts don't give you problems replacing.
I always manage to round the hex opening.

well I have been busy amassing parts for this bike, so far I have ordered :

    2 x new Aprilia indicators
    1 x battery
1 x set of Tyga side by side chambers
    2 x Tyga aluminum silencers
    1 x Tyga Clip ons
1 x Tyga Carbon Fibre dash
1 x set of Tyga Rear Sets
    1 x Aprilia air filter
1 x set of windscreen bolts from @XCite Bikes

Next step is to get the engine out, get the barrels off and arrange a top end rebuild.

Big thanks to Paul @Tyga for his help in getting me some killer parts for the rebuild
