image.jpeg Well I have my new 250 four project and after missing my lovely little zx2r I now have a Balius to play with.

Brought it back in the CRV yesterday, taken a few shots of its as is condition and considering what I will make it into......(see photos below)......bring it on!

    More instalments to come

    Good find.
The cut down bikes that look like a dog with no tail don't do anything for me (let alone the non compliance with road rules) but have fun with what ever you decide to do.

    Cheers Murdo

I think when the Balius is down to a rolling chassis and engine it will be easier to see what it will lend itself too. I definitely want to do something a bit different if I can.......including minimising rear of frame like this dude has below.....

The Balius only cost my Sis £80.......I will find out why as I get into it....

Why not leave it original? It'll be worth more in the future if its unmolested

Maybe if I come across a pristine set of plastics and tank.......but in the UK I am more likely to find rocking horse poop....:(

Ok Australia......here is the challenge..... I need a pair of Balius side panels in any colour or condition as I am going to try and keep my Balius intact for the time being. Anyone able to source any and quote me for sending to UK ?

    Thanks

    Steve

I have a feeling the Balius shares quite a bit with the ER5.

Side panels certainly look worth a shot and potential mod if needed.

It appears my hunch was right. ER5 panels are a match for Balius

Ok folks......its chain and sprockets time. I see Balius standard set up is 14/49. I can't quite recall what I did with my zxr but I remember not wanting to reach 6th gear at 50kph! So went a bit bigger on front and mebe a bit smaller on rear also....

What ratio do you recommend those of you that ride Balius ?

Something that is fun is what I am after. Top end not important but don't want to run out of gears too early either.....

    Maybe 15/48 would suffice ?

My son uses 13/48 and it is good around town and for 175 kph . 15/48 is for land speed record. 14/48 is 190 kph !

    Nice!! bit over braked maybe.
Put ZXR cams in and then same power as zxr! At the track.

Tidy track bike ZXR. I particularly like the pipe.

Not sure why my Balius has 14/48 unless standard? I will check gear charts etc.. I would be happy with a 140kph top end if it's a hoot to ride at everything below this as I rarely get to 140 anyway....

    Will do thanks for advice.

I have also Sussex out that an ER5 front light matches Balius also. I now have a rich vein of parts in uk
