So here is a guy selling a flat 428 sprocket and washer to make up for the missing thickness.
He includes a reference to the original sprocket and says that the washer goes to the outside. As @Stu previously mentioned.
So I think we have more than enough evidence to end any speculation about this.

Looks like a washer from Bunning's (or the Japan equivalent of). :lolsign:

I could easily get the 520 conv stuff for my Zeal just not real ideal due to the IMO too heavy, and such a big sprocket offset difference.

I updated the first post to include more Zeal info and my enquiries about having sprockets made is ongoing. If I cannot get them made to a suitable standard, as in not made of chocolate, then it will not proceed.

Mr Green .... keep me informed on the sprocket making.

When Im back Ill try the '9MM' sprocket on the 3LN1 shaft

I cant remember wat was said at the Yammy dealer when I had the sprocket discussion before ..... the problem being the head mechanic is such a 'know it all' and a 'has no patience to listen' type of guy.

Maybe if the stock 3LN front sprocket part # is still available , it would be interesting to find out its dimensions
If the original young guy Ive always dealt with is still there I can get him to maybe find out or order one to see it
But as mentioned if they are just JT sprockets then they will just be wats available elsewhere....7MM

Love the Japanese Bunnings washer solution ...... how do u say Dodgy Bros Inc in Japanese? :commando:

I don't hold out much hope for the quality product. I am expecting them to come back with a minimum order quantity of 5000 or something. Almost all of the quality manufacturers are Japanese subsidiaries and they supply the OEM market here and overseas. Usually they will not even respond to a public enquiry. But hey, worth a try.

If we cant get hold of the correct sprocket in the end then I guess plan B would be looking into having 2MM (?) spacers made with the inner spline pattern.

Whats the logistics in having 20 or 50 or wateva number made?

Why wouldn't you just buy the OEM one for $6 and flatten it, Grey?

    It's Mine!
Yes, I am now the proud owner of the used 3LN3 countershaft sprocket that you see in the image and all for the princely sum of 160 JPY (1.73 AUD) Of course I will have to pay fees and shipping but it will be packaged together with a secondhand camshaft cover for the 400 that I bought for medical experiments.

This is in case I do get any positive feedback from the local manufacturers.

    I presume its 17T ?

wish the things had a part# stamped on it

I am just waiting for the original part from Japan and then I will draw it up and try a last ditch effort with the Japanese company here. The alternatives, although very cheap, appear to be made of chocolate so I am not interested in going down that path.

Here is the Honda CT110 sprocket in the JT catalogue, like all the others, it is too thin.
    http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF1263-15
Given the weight of evidence already presented here, it is probably best to ignore any unsubstantiated claims of something that fits from another model. I went through the entire JT catalogue and did not find anything.

    @HiveFleetAbyss
I have had some positive response from a Japanese manufacturer so in case this goes ahead I would like to solve the Zeal issue too. If we know how much the offset is on the rear sprocket then we will know what thickness shoulder would be needed on the front sprocket to allow owners to use a flat rear sprocket, like the one that you bought, without needing any other modifications.
Do you still have your original rear sprocket?

Just an update. The standard 3LN3 sprocket arrived. It is 9.70mm thick, measured with a micrometer.
I hope to visit a local factory over the next month. They do some OEM work and if it is all good then some sprockets will be available not long after.
    cheers
