My gear shift pedal link broke at one of the ball joint nuts (trying too hard to find neutral) and whilst I'm in sourcing a new one, I was wondering if anyone has removed and replace it with a straight shifter.

eg remove the whole unit and just fit a pedal direct - remove any joints

That would work, or you could get a new metric rod end from an engineering shop to replace the broken one.

take your ball bearing end to a bearing shop and they will match it for you. megelli ones are diecast.
