    Thanks @GreyImport worked a treat -> 12.8 left and 17.1 right (specs suggest 13-18)...

Thanks my67xr, checked CDI with the ignitor specs off that link, and get nothing on any of them...?!?!? Super dumb question but should the ignition be on? (I did try still nothing?) are the stats based on when the bikes running? Electrics not my forte. Learning quickly though (isn't that the idea....) While we are on the dumb questions, if I have 12 volts to both coils does that rule out kill switch / Side stand switch??? It doesn't matter if I flick Kill switch on and off voltage doesn't change. Have they been bypassed previously or am I wrong in my thinking. Bikes electrics are a **** sandwich probably should have started again kiffsta do you have a wiring loom for a gsf250n?

Thanks mate, have checked as best I can and think it must be close. Happy to spend $30 to make sure... Is it ready to go? Where are you based, i'm in Tewantin, but have family in Wynnum, Belmont, and Samford. Let me know if any of those work. May need some other bits, but will start with the loom and go from there. Thanks

There's no such thing as a dumb question, if it help's you learn about your bike there's nothing dumb about that.
And if it can help save you money, then that's even better again.

With it having 12v to the coil's with the ignition on and off, does your bike have a steering lock incorporated in the key ignition switch ?
Try checking for power with the switch in the steering lock position if it has it.
The ignition switch in some bike's is wired so that there is no power to anything when it is in the steering lock position, the next position is park (12v to coil's), then the final position is the run position (12v to coil's and ignitor box and full electric's)

I had the ignition in the ON position and was flicking Kill switch on & off - no change in voltage. Also did the same with the side stand (up / down) no change in voltage...

Wow looks a lot better than mine... Sold, how do you want to do it. My mum lives in Clara street, near Wynnum Esplanade, can get her to meet you, pick it up, you drop off, whatever works... CDI is a different model to mine (32900-11D00) which is a shame but don't think it's going to work... Thanks again

So I'm a bit lost. What's the problem exactly...? No spark?

Yes, and a bowl of spaghetti wiring going everywhere... CDI has no life in it based on multimeter test and kiffsta has a new loom on its way....

How do you test a CDI with a multimeter? I didn't think it was really that easy to do. I tried on mine and got nothing I could make sense of... But the bike still ran.

I tried off that link you sent me, copied below (didn't paste properly). Apparently not foolproof way to test, just need to rule out everything else before sending it away for diagnosis / repair... Kiffsta has sent me another CDI to test so keen to see if I can get any readings from that. Previous owner has twisted wires together everywhere, so will feel a lot better putting in the new loom...

I guess you have the meter set to 20K Ω (20,000 Ω) when you are testing the Ignitor box, try it on the next one up too
Are the stator reading's within the spec's?

Yes tried a couple of settings on multimeter and tried a second mm to be safe. Both didn't even blink... haven't checked stator yet

Was the same with me when I tried CDI testing, but the bike still ran. If you're getting voltage at the coils I'd think the CDI is doing it's job...?

Been a bit busy but back working on the bike. Big thank you to Kiffsta for the wiring loom, no longer looks like spag bol, but starting to look like a real bike.. was Hoping for divine intervention and the new loom would make everything start but no luck... here's my dilemma:
Used spark plug tester last night and got nothing from cyl 1, then tested cyl 4 no spark. Assumed still it was the CDI so planned to buy one. Woke up this morning and thought 1&4 run off same coil so should test 2&3. Happy days we have a spark...!!! So tonight I checked all the earth's to make sure they are tidy, then swapped wires from left hand coil to right, and I now have spark on 1&4 and nothing on 2&3... this should mean both coils are working, leads, wires plug caps etc right???... am I back to CDI...??? Any advise appreciated...

can you do a continuity check between each of the wires heading to the coils and make sure they are both okay, they are 1 and 2 off the CDI plug in the 6 wire connector.
