Ok so by memory there is a common wire (orange/white) between the coils and one that isn't common coming from the CDI.

If you're swapping both wires over from one coil to the other and only ever getting spark on one coil (a different one each time you swap the wires) then you know that the coils are OK.

It's probably either the non-common wire from the coil that isn't producing spark or the common wire bridge to the coil that isn't producing spark that has a problem (solid white or black/yellow). The below is the GSXR250 wiring diagram, it's an engine variant (GJ72A or GJ73A vs the bandit which is a GJ74A) but (testing my memory a bit) it's quite close.

Try tracing that particular wire, see if there is a breakage, or test that one at the CDI etc.

I have this attachment from you previously, laminated very handy. Common wire is orange/white, then left coil has white (technically not working) and right coil has black/yellow (technically working). Have continuity back to CDI from all of them... is it a problem with #2 "port" on CDI (as per Kiffsta's image???)

Keep in mind I now have a whole new loom... CDI is only common denominator...

To me it sounds like a transistor failure on maybe one or more of the capacitor's has gone in the Ignitor/CDI box
Small Coil Rewind's in Geelong can repair them if you can't find the faulty component and get stuck

Thanks my67xr, rang them they want $280 to repair, found same model CDI at a Melbourne wrecker for $150. Ordered with express post and arrived yesterday, squealed like a little girl putting it in. Good news... still no spark from left coil...?!?!?! To recap - new wiring loom, "new" CDI, if I swap leads from right coil (cyl 2&3) I then get spark on (1&4). Continuity on white wire back to CDI... any thoughts.... please.....

Check the coil. Put your meter onto ohms. Measure between the two connections to the wiring harness, then between the two spark leads. Compare against known good coil.

I'd be looking at your trigger wheel and pulse coil

Has the bike ever worked for you?
Could it be a timing issue?
ie. previous owner was doing valve clearances and put the timing upside down or something so that's why it's not firing?

Hang-on...you said you aren't even getting 4 spark plugs to spark yet, can't be whatever bollocks I was thinking up of then :D

Thanks mate, bikes never worked for me, $500 special... the previous owner was a young guy tinkering and when I opened it up it was a mess... I do get spark on the right coil cyl 2&3 but when I swap the wires over to the left coil, I then get spark on the left cyl 1&4... that should indicate coil/leads/plug caps working... right..?? Will look closer at the timing...

Are you getting power to both coils, or just one?
