This situation is now in the past and the fine has been paid but I just thought I'd ask the question and see if anyone has successfully fought a parking ticket?

Most people who live/work in Brisbane and ride a bike would know there are designated free parking areas in the city. One morning I was late for a meeting and didn't have time to do laps around the city waiting for a park to be free.

In the below photo from Google street view the red box was where I parked. The yellow box is the approved parking area.

Now have a look at the photo from the side that I took of my bike (CBR250R at the time) in that spot:

It's not in the way of any cars, pedestrians, buses, trains, birds, bicycles, waterways etc. Yet I still got a fine because I was outside the marked parking area.

Was this just Brisbane council parking nazis at work or did I have any chance at getting out of this ticket?

Just looking at that area you would wonder why it isnt all marked for bike parking ..... as u say its perfectly away from everything.

Yep. That wall keeps going behind the parking building as well with those little alcoves all the way along it. You could fit another 10-20 bikes along there but you'd have to watch out for pedestrians as it's a walkway.

As mentioned, this happened in the past and I paid the fine but all things considered I was pretty annoyed at the time.

    Understandably so.
