Greetings! I am really excited to have found this online English-language resource for JDM motorcycle enthusiasts. There aren't many of us in the U.S., so information and other owners are hard to come by. I live in Oregon on the West Coast of the USA, and come from a family of motorcyclists; my grandfather rode until he passed away, and my dad is still riding in his 70's! I rode as a teenager, and then for some reason I got out of it (went through a phase a serious car nut) before getting back into it about six years ago...midlife crisis? We have great riding around here, and I love the little nimble bikes. I dreamed about the Japanese 'forbidden fruit' I saw in motorcycle magazines as an impressionable youth in the late-80's and early-90's, and now we can finally legally own some of those gems Stateside!

What spurred to to join is a purchase of a 1988 GJ72A GSXR250 last week. It is a great restoration candidate with just over 6000km since new! It appears to be all stock (except an impromptu hacksaw tail tidy at some point in her past) including the tires! Lots of rubber bits will need replacing. The tires are shot, the front brake is non-functional (master cylinder?) and she doesn't start easily or idle well.

Among other bikes in my fleet, I also have a Japanese import 1992 Suzuki Goose NK42A which has been hopped-up a little bit.

I also used to own an American-market 1991 Suzuki Bandit 400...a rare beast over here, even though officially imported. I bought it in rough shape and did a restoration/resto-mod. I sold her last year and have missed that bike more than I would have thought.

In any case, I look forward to participating in the community here!

    Cheers,

    Jesse

Welcome, that is a rare beast for any part of the world. The government here all but banned import of 2nd hand bikes so there is nothing except things with tail tidies and scooters. Here is the carb kit for that model https://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Suzuki_GSXR250_GJ72.html. If you get really stuck for rubber parts let me know and I might be able to help.
    Cheers
    Blair

Welcome, that bike look to have been very well looked after.
Pity we never got the Goose here in OZ, should be a fun bike to ride.
