    Hey guys,
I recently bought a Kawasaki ZR250 which has been unregistered and unused for about a year.
I recently replaced all the fluids (except brake) and topped up the brake fluid.
The only things wrong with the bike is both the fuel gauge and trip-meter not working and some cracked fairings at the back.
Apart from the fact the bike came with an aftermarket exhaust which hopefully won't be too loud, everything is working fine
In NSW, Australia, would this pass the blue slip check?
If not, what are some things I would need to do?

    Thanks

It should have the stock exhaust , but will depend on how pedantic the inspector is

You will need a receipt from the seller when u go to the RTA .... old rego papers are handy but not a necessity

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have all the paperwork I need, neither I nor the previous seller have the stock exhaust so my only way around it would be to buy the stock exhaust, which I really don't want to.

You don't think cracked fairings would affect my chances of getting it passed?

    Thanks :)

We get bikes passed with half the fairings missing .... so cant see a problem with a few cracks , unless there is bits hanging off

Just plead ignorance with the muffler .... tell them the seller said its the original .... for that matter , dont say anything unless specifically asked

Make sure u know where and can find the engine number and frame number easily on the bike as they will look for it

Yeah that all sounds good, yeah got the engine/frame/VIN number all on a metal tag on the frame and have them written down if they need it. Sounds like it should be good to pass :)

    Thanks for the help :)

Yepp it all works smoothly, the clutch and front brake lever are a bit wobbly but I'm sure thats nothing more than tightening the screw

    Thanks for the help :)

    Ah yes
Well in order to get it passed I had to either get the OEM exhaust or get my aftermarket exhaust decibel tested (it would have failed)
Thankfully I found a friend of my uncles who just did the "if anyone asks, you put in on yourself after this blue slip check" So he did the blue slip and pointed out a few other things ill have to fix eventually.
So yeah, long story short, I got it blue slipped, insured and registered and have been riding it around :D

But in regards to what they officially check, its basically to make sure everything works, most importantly the lights and the gauges. They check to make sure it starts fine, doesnt leak any oil and the frame isnt bent or cracked.
It's a fairly thorough check but chances are if you can ride it there and the important things work, youll be fine.
My fuel gauge doesnt work but it isnt a legal requirement so it isnt checked.
Also, the exhaust (if aftermarket) i think has to have a sticker saying the db and the model number otherwise he'll probs fail it, like mine.
If you still have the OEM, youll be fine :)
