    HI,

Please excuse my lack of bike knowledge  :icon_scratch:  but I was wondering what the difference (if any) is between the GPX and ZR?

    Thanks.

balius is the naked bike version of the zxr2 which has an inline 4 engine. GPX is a parrallel twin.

Id go for the balius if given the chance, but i dunno what parts availability is like nowdays.

Kawasaki Balius - Ungodly noise in HD.

    Hey Nat
Good question, as far as I am able to understand the designation varies from country to country. gpx in some countries, zzr in others but essentially same machine. Today this bike is known worldwide as the Ninja 250r, and continues to manufactured in Thailand. The only variance on the current model is that certain countries have fuel injection and others continue to use carbs.

Thanks guys for educating me.  The Balius has that little bit of street tuffnes look about it.  There is a nice looking one for sale in the bikes for sale thread on this forum.  Got me thinking, hmmm.

    Hye Nat

The balius has a sweet 4 potter, however it is an import as Kawaskai sold the ZZR250 and GPX250 in Australia which are twins. The Baluis has more power with 33kw or there abouts, the ZZR250 \GPX250 have 29kw. I have a ZXR250C and parts are readily available from Kawasaki Australia

    thanks

    Chris

Can I add that after watching Desmo's clip (thanks Desmo) it also sounds the part.  That sounds great.  Now how do I convince the funds manager??

Try my trick, tell your better half you want a Ducati 1098 , put a poster up in the loo and talk about it all the time, let her know  you'll be a better man if you get it, then one day in passing converstation say your saw a Kwakka Baluis for only $4000 and its the ducks nutz and you wrapt in it, she will think hang on, if I buy him this then Im saving $25k on the Duc... jobs done, cheques in the mail

I'll let you know how I go.  The old GPX is going in to CMC next Friday for a health check.  Minor service, new fork oil, DNA air filter (hopefully) and carb tune and balance.  In the last two days she has not liked idling, idle speed slowly drops away until she stops.  Hope it's just a case of tweaking the carbs because she has always started 1st time every time no matter whether it's a cold or hot start.  Fingers crossed.
