    Started, engine nice and quiet. But only runs with choke and throttle. Carby externals have been painted and look nice and shiny. Pics later.

    I'm super impressed with this bike so far. Must have been babied. It even has the correct fuel tap on it ( @maelstrom , will send you a message shortly ) which makes me wonder if it was imported in bulk like others or done privately.

    Petcock looks very similar to the one on my zzr600, mine was leaking some so I ordered the kit....new smiley face and O-ring.
    Still had issues with it as it would not turn correctly????
    Yesterday, in desperation I pulled it apart...AGAIN, also pulled a zxr250 one apart at the same time so I could possibly compare the workings of both units.
    What did I discover. the new O-ring supplied by Kawasaki was a tad larger in diameter and once installed tended to jam because of the wrong fit ????? So I installed the one off the zxr250 and presto....turns perfectly as it fits correctly.
    One would think that Kawasaki would supply the correct O-ring.....what do I know??? Bottom line, mine now works very well.

    @Phil some of the fuel taps are designed to have the o-ring seat in the base of the housing rather than on the barrel, like this.

    Great photo Blair, yep you're correct but alas tried in both location and simply put...didn't fit either.
    The one from the zxr250 was a perfect fit around the collar and turns to all positions (3) I'm happy

    New spark plugs , snipped the leads .... greased up the exup and set and adjusted the cables correctly

    Inspected the front sprocket .... has a 428 17/57 setup .... that for once doesnt need replacing.

    Gave the new old wheel the once over ..... deglazed the discs and pulled the seals .... cleaned up inside and nice to see wat looks like fairly new bearings in there ...... a bike thats been worked on before ... and correctly ....
    hallelujah brother :bowdown:

    For the attention of the Dirty Wheel Club ...... lots of paintwork chipped off but a vast improvement

    You could:
    • Disassemble
    • plug holes with rubber or silicone stoppers
    • Ask Dr Murdo nicely is he will blast them for you
    • Paint with Cerakote
    • Bake in oven
    Better than new :)
