    Gday peeps :)

Stumbled across this last night .. The tread for affixing the left foot peg is coming out / cracking. Now before I sink money into bike was wondering are there any legal fixes for this thread as it's actually part of the chassis of bike. Not suppose to weld ?

Was thinking of getting TreadTech out see if they can fix it as don't want foot peg coming off while I'm doing a lefty :) .. Pegs quite wobbly.

    Tnx any suggestions welcome.

Wat condition is the allen bolt in ?

Cant really see inside the opening...is the thread really chewed out inside?

Have u tried swapping the bolts around?

You could put a not too thick washer on the bolt so its grab point is different .... depends on how bad the thread is

Thread is good mate .. Just when I tighten bolt that inserts it actually pulls the thread housing as it were out .. Looks like the thread is coming out of the hole as it were. Not sure if that makes sense. So more pressure of me tightening it it actually lifts thread out .. Sorta cracked away from the outside of the thread.

Well threads still fine it's more the whole thing is letting lose .. So maybe drilling it out completely and re threading might be the go then using bigger bolt.
If ya look at photo the outside of the thread is coming away. Looks like it's been repaired in the past on the dodge.

Will give it ago as need that peg nice n secure.

    Tnx peeps. :)

If u havnt the tools or expertise to do it yourself I would take it ..or a photo of it , to a mechanic or engineering shop and ask as I would think having it totally replaced or repaired properly would be the best outcome.

Will do Grey .. ThreadTech will come out for free to have a looksee at it it seems so will try them first. If they cant do it will see what else they reckon, maybe like you say engineering mob seeing its structural ... shame that those threads are part of the frame of the bike, would of been nice if I could just replace that section :)

    Tnx

Im no frame expert but to me that looks like a special nut that is pressed into the frame and welded in......might just be how it looks in the pic though.

Thats what I thought that its like an insert type of thread. If it is was wondering if its okay to weld, just worried for roadworthy that they might knock it back if its welded seeing its part of the actual chassis. But surely lil tack weld would be okay ? :) .. Will still get ThreadTech out to check it out none the less before I stuff with it and make it worse :D

Even though its not a structural part of the frame its obviously a pretty important area ..... I would let the expert look at it first and take it from there .
I would guess it would need a good clean out and if the 'nut' part is actually loose then why and what is worn or damaged?

the 'thread insert' part seems to lever out of the frame hole when I put pressure on it.

yea I would think it would come out and u should clean all the crud and dirt and old welds away to check for cracks or damage ...of course if the insert is ok and the internal thread is ok it can be re used.
The internal thread is not stripped out?

Nope bolt goes in nicely it's just the insert that seems to be buggered .. Looks like it's been tack welded Afew times so your probably right mate will need a good clean up.

Was just checkin to see is that's normal to have insert for that thread bit on left peg or if it's a dodgy fix. Will have someone have a looksee at it none the less before I start butchering it :D

If thread is good just clean it up and reweld it. It is behind the alloy piece so some black paint and nobody will see it.
