    Hey all.

I picked this beast up for $700 not running, ended up taking her on a massive ride and realizing that continuing to ride her would be suicidal.
Anyway after attempting to repair brakes and such, the engine died from an exploded camshaft cap, at that point I said screw it and started this lengthy process.

Found a parts bike with a rebuilt engine and 4-1 for $250.

Bought a Sweet Predator 4-1 for it.

I'll post more and expand on things tomorrow.

I went over the newly powder coated frame and discovered, that grease had bled out from the stand(s) mount points.
Unluckily for me the powder coater wouldn't fix it, for free and wanted to melt the coat off to redo it.

I didn't really feel like having my compliance plate melted off, so I decided to just leave it and touch it up as dirt and grease will cover that spot within no time.

Everything else came up more than perfect, this time around, for the swingarm he's doing it properly.

Here's a rough list of what's left to do.
    • Powder coat rims, head light bracket and outer fork tubes
    • Get the inner fork tubes re chromed and a new wallet
    • Get a rolling frame together
    • Put engine in rebuild bike
    • Have a mechanic do a valve adjustment and carby sync, unless I get the tools and know how before that
    • Tune
    • Tune
    • Maybe a bit of tuning

I'll see if I can find some photos prior to the first picture of the bike. When I bought her she had a broken 4-1, coil wiring was burn't out and she looked like crap.

On another note, does anyone have any ideas as to any small performance parts or just or good after market parts I could use, most things on this bike are dying.

small performance mods...more fuel and air and timing and spark.
better coils and plugs would be a good start. you can look at opening her up a little less restrictive exhaust, better quality air filter, Jet to suit. Despite the common "it can't be done", you can run pods (preferably uni filter style, with a longer intake runner) don't go crazy with jetting. Also you can play with sprocket size a little to increase acceleration etc
    Have fun

Really cool bike, good luck with the Resto. That's a bummer about the powder coat, they should have cleaned that properly or been prepared to fix it free of charge. Find a new powder coater.

Hey all, sorry for the hiatus.

So recently I got the swingarm back from the powder coater and this time he finally did things right, now I plan to find a better one.
I am currently waiting for the headers and muffler to come back from the ceramic coater.
Besides what's above it has been quite uneventful, most of the parts I order are back ordered which as most of you know take.... a bit of time.

Ok, so I've come across a problem with the swinarm bearing, now most of them go flush against the edge from what I can gather, but mine have a ridge inside to stop them from moving. The spacers are polished in the
same spot as If I were push them up against it, has anyone came across something like this before?

Today was a good day, picked up some more parts from my local bike shop, mostly just gaskets for the engine and a few brake seals.

My main goal at the moment is to get a rolling frame going. (I have the bike in my bedroom upstairs, until it can be moved around), which is taking longer then I want it to, as I'm replacing all the bearings. Personally I have no clue if I should be replacing some of these as it's my first time doing this.

    Expensive bearing(s) $60 each
I wasn't really sure on what the non oem version of moly paste was or what it even is, so I bit the bullet and got it anyway.
As well as the paste I picked up some bel-ray water proof grease that I was recommended, is this stuff any good?

Sorry for the delay in posting, parts take forever to arrive. Well on a positive note I finally got my pipes back.
I'm really happy with the way they came out, though there is a bit of stains on the base that could of been avoided if I polished before it was coated.

All the bearings finally arrived after a painful backorder.
Sadly I scratched the coating when attempting to insert one of them, BUT I quickly learned my lesson and got a professional to do it.

Nice work, it'll almost be a brand new bike when your done.
I like the powder coating and especially the ceramic coating :thumb_ups:

    Slowly. Very slowly.

I got it mostly back together, but a exhaust flange bent and broke off the thread on the head.

Now I gotta fix it or swap parts onto my spare head.
Not sure if parts should be machined beforehand though.

These bikes are fairily fun to ride, plenty of power in their old age.

Main fairirng is a pain to find in good condition though.

    Sent from phone.
