Hi I have a GJ72A 1988 model - my problem is this... I have gone to replace the air filter only to find that I think there is missing internals in the air box. I purchased an OEM air filter for the bike which is a square piece of foam - I am wondering if anyone would have a picture of the inside of the air box to show me what is missing or as to how I am to mount the air filter. Any help or advise would be much appreciated, I currently don't have a manual for the bike or I would of just looked in there. Cheers

Hi thanks for the welcome and thanks for posting the pic - I appear to have everything in that pic we just cant work out what supports the filter and what retains the filter in the box. As the bike had no filter at all so I don't have anything to go off. Cheers

Google tells me air filter part # is the same as early GSXR 400. Here's the 400 part diagram copied from CMSNL, it looks the same only with what appears to be a plastic mesh below the filter. Unfortunately it's listed as not available and if they don't have it, I don't like your chances of finding one. I would suggest making a piece out of steel or alloy mesh to hold the filter in there. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Ask someone who has one to scan it for you. Then just cut one out of a piece of plastic, alloy or whatever you like.
