    Hey all,
Thought I would say hi before I begin lurking on the site. I've always wanted one of the inline-4's and since they were never for sale in the States, I'm excited to finally have one. I just bought a '92 ZXR 250 from a fellow racer. It will be used solely for racing at a local club that I've been with for about 6 years now. The bike is a bit rough right now but I promise to post photos once I've cleaned her up. I'm testing the bike on the 15th so you should see some recent pics before then.

Hopefully I can make some new friends on here. I very much would like to buy a bunch of parts for the bike so I can have spares. I'm also specifically looking for a race shock or at least an aftermarket shock with adjustable ride height. PM me if you have parts. Either way. Hello!

You can find me on Facebook if you want to talk directly about parts. Shane Liberty is my real name.

Posts are no fun without at least one photo so here's a photo of one of my CVMA bikes. 15894287_10154919354201974_6193925834026637165_n.jpg

Welcome Shane. Bike looks great. I'd be keen to hear what mods it has had made to it when you get a chance.

my 300? I have K-tech cartridges, Penske rear shock, Decked head, degreed cams, Bazzaz FI and Ignition module, Bazzaz quickshifter, Yoshimura exhaust. It's setup for Superstock race classes so I'm not allowed to get into any major mods.

Sorry Shane. I was after the mods you plan to make to your ZXR250 for racing, but thanks for the info about your 300.

Sweet! I've got a '91 zxr up here in Seattle. Holler if you come up with anything for a rear shock- I need something a little heavier duty for my fat ass. :) I'm likely gonna try and find a takeoff from something else, but we'll see what I find. If you find something I'd love to know.

Do you have a rear shock that has adjustable ride height? I want to run the Bridgestone setup at CVMA that's popular for the little bikes. It means running a 165 rear so I need to be able to change the geometry on the fly. PM me if you have something. I'd like a full race shock but I would settle for a shock that doesn't have a ton of adjustment as long as I can raise or lower the rear.

Oh oops! The bike is mostly stock accept for a full exhaust. Someone made a subframe for the rear so it runs a Honda 250GP tail from the '04-'05 model.

She's not much right now but here's the current state. I have a stock upper that will go back on and a bellypan. I'm having trouble finding race bodywork that will work. I need oil containment so I can't buy the Tyga stuff without spending more money to close the headlight holes and modify the lowers to hold oil. I've been told this bike drags bodywork if it's not super snug against the sides. If anyone has info on what I could use please let me know. I don't really want to run it with the bikini fairing and oil containment pan but that's how it's going to go currently. I need something that will pass tech but preferably look good too.

Oh and if anyone recognizes this exhaust let me know. I would like to know who makes it so I can replace it if I crash. IMG_3879.JPG IMG_3880.JPG

God no. I wish. I'm hoping to find something myself. I have enough trouble getting ahold of stock stuff much less fancy stuff for this bike.

Until you showed up, I only knew of one in Canada and mine in the States. We're stuck faking it I think. :)

Ok well that's a shame. I've just ordered a set of these to sort out my old carb issues. Should be really good in a few weeks time. Maybe before the final race round of CVMA.

Regulator problems are notorious for a lot of 1990's bikes. I've had several that had issues from Yamahas, Honda, Suzukis. It was a running joke about 1900's charging systems on 1990's bikes. lol

Well there appears to only be one supplier for a "Kit" and it's JB Power in Japan. I called all around the States and no one makes them. Hell, most people didn't know what bike I was talking about. APE was the only real option outside of Sudco but both suppliers told me to Go Fish.

Webike's price is high but I managed to contact JB Power directly and they actually quoted me $200 more than just paying through Webike. Hopefully the turn around time will not be extreme. It appears to be a made-to-order product nowadays. I'm guessing they machine the intake adapters at their shop or have to have them made. Since I don't have the means to do that and I have no idea what jetting or needles would work, I'm at the mercy of a performance shop that's already done the design work.

Welcome, lots of ZXR owners here seem to fit new cam chains. Could be a good precaution. A new set of rings would freshen it up too, see G-Force post about that. Would love to know a before and after dyno with the FCR's. I have seen a 10% improvement in total power mentioned quite frequently.

Thank you for the heads up. The motor was completely refreshed less than 1,000km ago. That's one of the few things I won't have to worry about in the immediate future. lol. This particular bike was used for endurance races in Japan so they refreshed the motors every season. They did their refresh before it was shipped over here. A buddy of mine owned it for years and was stationed out there in the military. Shipping it back was free for him. I got lucky on that whole deal. I didn't have to buy one overseas and pay to import it.

The cam chain tensioners are prone to wearing out. I got a new one that is off a GPX250. Part number 12048-1106. Exactly the same as the one that was on there. Might be able to find a suitable manual tensioner that fits a GPX250 and use it.

There is also a mod you can do to the crankcase to allow changing the cam chain without breaking it or using an unbroken chain
