Hi again so my fzr250r is about 95% right :) ive reconditioned my carbs with keyster carb kits, so its driving in the low revs now and theres a great pull past 8krpm! Seems alot quicker with more gradual twist of throttle rather than full twist which is normal? Am here goes the 5% that i would like to sort out, if i leave it tick over on its own when warm it will die after 3 minutes i timed it, will die a lot quicker if the lights are on about 30-60 seconds will stay going if i have throttle on even slightly, its idleing under 3000 sometimes its highish nd sometimes its perfect to my ear anyway lol if i blip the throttle it idles up kind of like the throttle is stickin but i dont think it is, ive the mix screws wound out 3 turns from fully in, my needles on carb 1+4 are set on the third clip position from top with small metal washer plastic washer and another metal washer underneath, carbs 2+3 are 3rd clip position from top plastic washer nd metal washer on the bottom is this correct? Bench sync carbs, when hot it will only start with some thottle not much is this normal or shud it start on its own it dont take many swings to start, its at a stage where id be confident to undertake a journey which is a big win in my book :)

I will check this out tomorrow hopefully the weather here will hold up and i can get it finished! It will probably sit for a month or two after that tho until i can afford to do my bike training here 16 hours of it and 500 euro fee :( before i can legally ride my bike on the road the only plus is it does give me time to get the bike 100%

So heres an update! Ive been tuning pilot screw today and results are carb 1+2 when screw is wound in idles slows and dies when wound out idle levels out but doesnt increase or die off, carbs 3+4 have no bearing when wound in or out
So what does this mean? Havent done my exup tuning yet but the bike does now idle longer pulls better across the revs got nearly 60mph on my private lane today

You need to do this tuning when the bike is hot. No sense in doing it when the engine is cold. Do it after a decent ride. Until then, set them to 2.5 turns out and leave them.

When you're ready to do the tune, have the bike on a rear stand and ensure you have easy access to the carbs while the bike is running.

As the bike idles, adjust the pilot on carb #1 out slowly until the idle increases. Then, adjust the main idle screw back down. Repeat this procedure for carbs 2, 3 and 4. The main thing is to do it slowly and while the engine is hot.

Could be sucking a bit of air from somewhere, it sounds like a lean problem.
get some starter starter spray or the like & spray it around the inlet tubes & see if the revs rise.
You've got a rich set up in the carbs which might be compensating extra air intake.
It's just another easy test, to rule out a potential issue

Air box rubbers maybe, i sprayed the inlets with wd40 before made no difference but i will try again tomorrow just to rule it out and be double sure, i might get new ones but i hear there expensive :(

If anywhere it'll be the tubes after the carbs, not the airbox tubes,
Spray it carefully at the tubes on the head.

So i was fiddling more and more with pilot screw settings today made sure bike was very hot fan was cutting in and out, it idleing Longer now but it developed a jumpy idle out of no where but then remedy itself? My fuel filter looks empty is that normal its an opaque colour yamaha one? Also i think there is a rattle coming from the exup butterfly is there parts that wear out inside there? Whatever i did anyway the bike has got some serious get up and go even low down as 4krpm my friend who has a gixr 750 also rode it and couldnt belive how quick it was for its size!

Forgot it still doesn't want to start hot without some throttle but after it starts it will stay running if you leave throttle go

Fuel filter should have fuel sitting in it at all times
Replace it .... doesn't have to be a genuine one .... just anything that fits your fuel line and is 'free flowing'
Make sure its installed in the right direction for the fuel flow ....it will have an arrow on it somewhere.

also there is filters inside the tank that may be clogged up

    Picture here ....

Inside the EXUP there a bush that may be worn or its missing

Also check your fuel tank hoses and connection to the fuel tap. I got mine around the wrong way once, bike ran like crap.
