I am heading over to Thailand (southern area) for a holiday with my wife soon, wondering if anyone can recommend any place's to visit and stuff to do.
I don't want to be out shopping with my wife every day, i might have to find some bike related activity's etc
We have accomodation etc booked in Phuket, so might be a bit far to go visit @maelstrom

I love Thailand.. we have only ever been to Patong Beach but it is lovely... last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn and I would stay there every time I go back now.. swim up bar... several restaurants.etc etc...

Be careful of hiring bikes and jetski's... lots of rip off merchants.. you sign away your life when you put your signature on the rental form and then they come at you for "damage" you caused.. even though you didnt.. and the traffic is nuts... too many Aussies (and other nationalities) injured on bikes because they think the locals obey road rules...lol
Lots to do though... Tiger Kingdom.. Elephant rides in the jungle. Go see the big Buddah... and relax and drink plenty of Chang beer :)

We went to Thailand 2 years ago, I’m a huge fan of Thai food so that was a highlight for me. We did a few touristy things , my favourite was a boat trip out to the islands , it was spectacular. Watch out when buying clothes , a Xxxl is like a large , make sure you try everything on before you pay.

There are some strange temples , here is one I visited on an island , my 12 year old son went on ahead and came
Running back saying mum, don’t go in there

My son also found a bar that had ping pong, that was very hard to explain why we couldn’t go in , at least there was family friendly ping pong at th resort

Ah yes... Bangla Road in Patong Beach... where you are asked every 2 metres to go see a Ping pong show... or pet a Chameleon..(illegal for them to have them) and the Thai guy selling DVD's with the best Aussie accent you will ever hear.
The place is wonderful... haggling price is a real game.. be prepared to walk away.. there will be the identical item 20 metres away :)
And the ones I loved were the Beats bluetooth earphones.. 12 months before Beat had anything like it... and when I asked if it was real Beats he told me yes... Real Thailand Beats.. :)
You will get sick of the requests to try on a shirt.. or Want a Tuk Tuk... Want a Suit... want a massage.. lol just take it all in your stride... it is a fantastic place.. the people are genuine and lovely.

Finding shopping for bike parts in Thailand hard. No one wants to talk in the smaller shops as i have a 'big bike' , and the bigger bike shops seem to not keep many parts there and order everything from Bangkok then wait a few days for it to arrive.
I called into a Triumph dealer looking to price/buy a new Shindengen reg/rect SH775 but the new 2018 bikes have the old FH020's on them still, and they said they didnt keep many parts in stock, just ordered as they need them.

Think i'll just wait till i'm back home and order them through ebay Thailand.

Well have fun and stay safe. Would have been nice to catch up, but I am off the beaten track here and you would get bored in about 3 minutes in this neck of the woods.
    Cheers

Yeah i looked up the area your shop is in, but its a fair way from us. Been doing some sight seeing, and exploring and shopping with the wife :(
Got a dodgy 30yo tattoo covered up today with something much better.
Heading to see some ping pong shows tonight or tomorrow night too.

    Thanks
