Hey all, long story short I need an airbox for my 91 CB250 Jade, now I cannot find one at all (Anyone got one?)
Now, I have always thought the early CB250 hornets were basically the same bike so can anyone send me photos of the airbox in the bike with tank n stuff out of the way? Also what carbs the Hornets used? Mine has VP20s
Need to know if itll fit in the frame.
    Thanks.

IM pretty certain the airbox will be different between the Jade and the CB250F Hornet

I cant find anyone wrecking a Jade, maybe try http://www.findapart.com.au/

Doesnt look like that will fit, the top breather port is centered on the Jade as the framerails are in the way. Damn.

    Well you see,
In my infinte wisdow I decided that I can make a better airbox that doesnt require the engine to be removed to get it out. So I could replace the intake rubbers
Turns out, I was wrong, my carb guy (Coz I thought she just needed a balance) said 'not enough vacume, slidesanowork, get stock airbox you silly boy'

findapart e-mails all the wreckers for you, I have used it about 10 times and only once have they not found what I was looking for.

whttp://nzbikeparts.com/ helped me with a hard to find bit. Good price, good clean part and fair shipping cost.

Mazza, can you use fibreglass to make something that would suit? Let me know if you think it's an option and I'll pop over and give you a hand.

Hey Frankster, The bike is at pablos in Mulgrave, not sure why my airbox didnt work, maybe too big air opening. I dont have photos of the old one but I used the front of my old one to make it, and I can remember what it looked like. Ill give the shop and ring and ask 'What if I cant find one?'

But one of my friends friend lives in Japan and is gonna chase some local wreckers for one! Best chance I think, should be plenty of bits in Japan.

Okay, let me know if you get stuck. I make custom airboxes for my bikes. If Rick or one of the Pablos guys is saying 'not enough vacuum" it might be your custom airbox is too constricted and you need to open it up to allow more air in. Contentious point, but in my opinion, airboxes on 4-strokes are all about a certain volume of stable (temperature and swirl) air being made available to the carbs across the entire rev range. Your custom airbox might work fine at idle, but once your revs rise it might be gasping for air.

They said not enough vaccume to open the slides
I got some photos of a hornet box...spacing seems okay and maybe can just delet the pcv breather port...

Mazza, If you take the custom airbox off, does the bike rev okay? If yes, then the airbox is restricting airflow and thus not enough air is flowing for the carb piston to be sucked up and allow fuel into the CV area of the carb. Maybe I've misunderstood what the problem is.

Not sure, he said the airbox has too little volume and air flow restriction, he saw photos and measurements of hornet airbox and says hell make it fit and work
