Our Spyder is still going strong, they are fuel injected now, and only 250cc in WA, 350 in other states.  We recently gave one away as part of a Crusty Demons/ Ghost Rider 11 Promo.  Check out the custom paint job, its awesome.

    Hi Ben,

What's the differences (besides the EFI) between a 2010 Carby model and the 2012 EFI?

I've got a 2010 Black Widow model that sadly I don't get time to ride enough, but have two main issues with the bike when I do get out..

1st off, the gear shift I notice on the new 2012 model looks alot sturdier than the 2010 model, whats been changed here? I always have trouble shifting up where it takes quite a lot of force to get it there.. down shifting not such a problem.

Secondly, the warm up of the bike so it doesn't cough and splutter at the lights .. I need to warm it up for at least 5 - 10 minutes with the choke wide open .. well the noise side of thing is more annoying for the neighbours! Its been like that since I got it and I was told when I purchased it that it was pretty normal to need to warm it up for a while with the choke open..

Does the EFI improve the starting of the bike so I don't need to keep it idling so long?
Does the EFI model still have a choke on it?
Does it still have the whole kick stand cut off even when in neutral (another annoying part of warming the bike up!)? I notice the Hyousung Aquila (although not as nice looking as the Hunter Spyder!) can be in neutral with kick stand down and no problems with it running until in gear.
Is it possible to download a copy of the 2012 owners manual online?

Test riding of the 2012 model isn't possible at the moment with huge wind gusts in Perth hence the questions here ..

    Cheers for any help..

    Hi SL,
The fuel injected motor has a few changes besides the fuel injection.  It also has a balance shaft, making the engine much smoother.  The EFI bikes don't have a choke, the computer (Delphi) takes care of all that.
Stand switch-  The stand switch needed to be on there to satisfy ADR compliance, I'm not sure why as I know other bikes don't have it.  There's two phillips head screws that hold the switch on, undo them then flip the switch around and screw it on back to front, problem solved.  I do it on the demo bikes.
Warm up-  All vehicles espescially bikes should be warmed up, however 5 mins with the choke on is too long.  You will carbon the plugs up and the bike will run like poo.
If it won't idle after a minute or two with the choke, then you should adjust the idle up.
Noise-  It sounds like you have straight through pipes on, I would put some power cones or baffles in to take the clack out of it.  They just bolt in to your exhaust.

    Cheers
    Ben

Sorry for the slack reply, but thanks for the info. Still chasing down some power cones but have sorted out the idling issue and had the bike serviced. Runs better than ever.
    Cheers ..
