Hi everybody,

I just bought a fzr250.
I believe it is a 94 model, it has 18000 k's on it and its has a red and black colour scheme.
here is a crappy photo that i took with my phone.

I collect it monday, hopefully getting it in the back of a 6 foot trailer for the ride from camden to its new home on the lower north shore of sydney.

Cheers

Deane

just getting my post count up BUT:
I could not believe how good the fzr sounded, it apparently has the stock exhaust on it but it sounds better than my mates zzr250. (which still sounds awsome)

I also struggled to turn the bloody thing around, it started 1st go and i only stalled 3 times in my very brief streak down the road and back.

I think I am going to struggle maneuvering it when i go for the P's test.

Hey deanne, welcome to the forum!
The pic you have posted does not look like that of a 1994 FZR250. It looks like a 2kr (pre 1990) FZR to me. I would advise you to check the plate on the right side of the swingarm next to the tank/duct pipe to check when your bike was made. It sounds more like a 1994 compliance.

Anyways good luck with your new bike! The bike looks good and the low k's make it even more tempting (but more suspicious as well for an old bike like that, get a friends who know's a lot about bikes to checkout the forks/brake discs etc. for signs of wear).

yea i believe its an import, but i am pretty sure its a genuine 18 thou because it started 1st time really easily and there were no 'wierd' sounds comming from the engine.

Yea i was thinking it was a 94 compliance.

anyway I still want to get it because it is quite well priced, and has 10 months rego and got a 600 dollar service 2 months ago.

Cheers

Deane

Good to here. I hope you enjoy it cause i've been on my full licence for a while and still haven't outgrown the FZR, or maybe its the lack of money to upgrade!

Let us know when you feel like coming out for a ride with all the other FZR's and L, P plate riders!

Hi Deane i would probably not reccomend doing your P's test on the FZR as theyre not the easiest when it comes to doing the U-turn test etc a couple of guys went on CBR 250's when i did mine and failed for that reason i would suggest that you hire one of the Stay upright bikes as they are very basic to ride.

welcome to the site! Congrats on the bike purchase. It is a 3ln model (it has the deltabox), but it would be a 89-91 model (twin headlights are the giveaway) and likely complianced in 94. Sounds like you got a great deal on it though! Congrats on the purchase.

Theres two 'main' models..the 2kr and 3LN. Main difference is the 3LN is newer..and has the deltabox frame (a lot wider than the 2krs frame).

DoUFinkImSexy has the same type of bike boz. A 3ln with twin headlights...though im not sure what year it is. I think he said they came out with both? Who knows.

From what I have been told (and this may or may not be true) - twin headlight 3ln's were 89-91, and single headlight 3ln's were 91-94.

The deltabox is an aluminum frame, whereas the 2kr had a much thinner looking steel frame. The deltabox is still being used on all new exup bikes (r1, r6, etc) so it obviously has something good going for it! From what I understand is that it increases the rigidity of the frame, allowing the rider more control of the bike when riding.

Hey Deane, I live in Lane cove which is close to you I think? (which suburb are you in?) I can show you a few things if you want. Let me know.
as for practicing for your P's I recomend corporate building carparks because they are empty on the weekends as opposed to shopping centre carparks, North Ryde is full of them.

welcome to the site deane, the bike looks good. looks just like mine!!
If you pratice heaps on your FZR you can do the Ps no worries in it, i hired the bike anyhows, took me a few hours to get adjusted to the cb 250. but i knew when i done the test i could of done it on the FZR. I spent hours on the bike practicing my turning and leaning, to the point where if i knew i went over a bit more ill drop the bike. ended up doing it twice finding out my limit point lol.

welcome to the site one again and ride safe!
