    Hi,

I stupidly did not get a spare key cut in the 4 months i had my bike (1990 3Ln FZR250). I got mugged of my keys and wallet and now have the trouble of trying to get keys made for my bike. I know I could try and get the bike onto a ute or trailer with the steering lock on (pain in the ass and costs), so i have 2 issues.

#1 How is the best way to take the ignition barrel out?
(the fuel cap apparently wont be sufficient to make an ignition key from)

#2 Also, I will need to take the fuel tank off to unplug the electronics.

Can anyone help me? Diagrams? etc?

Cheers. Would love to get back on the road and riding!

    Matt

A mate of mine had a key made for his ZZR250 from the petrol cap, so i don't see why it's not possible in this instance.
As for how to remove it, i'd imagine you'd start by taking the top triple clamp off and then removing any bolts or screws that are keeping the ignition barrel in place.

As a general rule the switch is held in place under the triple with security type bolts that have no head or slot for a screwdriver. You'll have to make slots with a dremel or similar device if yours is so equipped.
