..........what is a 250 Across, in good, road worthy condition, worth in Australia? The reason I purchased the one I have is it's relative rarity in the UK and the challenge of restoring it to road worthiness. I am not in it for profit - just curious as to what the market value is in a market where it was sold new. By the time I have finished buying the missing parts (either NOS or, where I can, used) the bike will probably have cost more than it is worth. But I will get my enjoyment riding a rare and unusual bike around the locality. I paid the equivalent of approximately $1000 Aus for the Across in bits, whereas I paid $1824 Aus for my complete and running GSX250S Katana, so have some lee-way in comparison costs. So far I have spent approx $420 Aus acquiring the missing parts from Japan - the most expensive being a replacement for the water-logged CDI unit. With paint, new tyres and consumables, I expect it will cost me over $2000 Aus in total. Your thoughts?
The across was an enigma , in a time where 250 4 potters were mostly race replicas , Suzuki made a urban tourer. It had a zippy engine and handled quite well for its weight , I am a massive fan , but th ranks are thinning . The bikes were very expensive new , $10,995 ride away which is about 5500 pounds , these days you rarely see them on the roads , there are plenty of parts around , but they don’t have the attraction of the 250cc sports bikes. I get the hesitation in restoring one , so I will offer this, how many of them are in the uk ? That makes it Uber rare and that should hopefully give you the impetus to put it back on the road. These days a decent bike with rego and rwc should fetch $1500 -$2000 , average ones somewhere between $300 and $500 I run a bike breakers in Australia and have shed loads of parts , if you choose to get it back on the road , then PM me and I will post your parts kiff
