ride

What I think would be phat as J-Lo's ass would be if some if not all YFE members form Auzzy come over here and ride our sexy windy smooth as a babys bottom roads. Ok ok so maybe this would take awhile to jack up but I think New Years next year. That way it gives every one plenty of time to get things done!!!! If any ways keen lets get onto it. Dosnt matter if you own a Kawasaki (boz!!!!) or a Suzuki (flightcrank!!!!) you should still come and rep YFE.

So come on and get off ya ass' and lets all meet up

What ya think?

lol

Well glad things worked out but if you brought that bike now and had it for almost 2 years and it was mint wouldnt you just keep it and not sell it as it wouldnt be worth it! And 2 years is along time to save up money to buy a larger bike and also you would get alot of time on a larger bike so when you get a real powerful bike u dont kill your self. Any was that just what I think. If its totally mint and he looked after it like u say he did it would be cool to own for another 10 years because an old bike like that would be cool!

Certainly would but I have no desire (or space) to keep a spare bike. Plus then I would have to keep it registered etc. so the costs do keep coming. I may kick myself in 10 years time thinking I could've owned a classic. I like looking at the classics, but don't think I want to own one.

The other issue with buying a bike right now is that there are a lot of expenses in the near future (2 months with a wedding and all) so money can be better spent elsewhere.

The way we (my fiance and I) discussed it:
Option 1: I could buy the bike now. $3000. Keep for 2 years, resell perhaps $1500 (or keep as you say). Cost = $1500 / 2 years (750/year). Other consideration: then need to buy new bike and also initial outlay of money when we have other expenses.
Option 2: Buy new bike in 6 months time. $15000. Keep 6 years. Resell probably around $9000. Cost = 6000 / 6 years, or $1000/year. (this is based upon the current price of the sprint st, and that 1999 models are now reselling for ~$10000). Other considerations- new bike much earlier, can put through salary sacrificing to save even more (saves ~30% off bike price), no initial outlay of money - bike tradein would be enough for initial finance and then monthly payments.

So that was the decision making process. May sound convoluted, but makes sense in my head.

I always think too much. But that is the life of an academic I suppose - must look at things from all angles before making a decision... my decisions don't always make rational sense (unlike the one above) - for instance I bought a bike and learned to ride. That isn't rational - driving a car is. But a bike is just so much more enjoyable. But most of my decisions are rational (something which gets on my fiances nerves sometimes because you can not argue with rationality easily).

Definitely not rich!!!!! (I am assuming that is why you are laughing...) I have not had a true job for 4 years, and have been living off school scholarships and my fiance. But that is soon to change...

I am just finishing up my PhD thesis and starting on Monday as a lecturer at LaTrobe University (in the school of health sciences, field of ergonomics, human factors, and systems design -- (YAY!! - I got a job!!) ). So that is my life. Teaching and research, with the little bit of consulting when I want some extra money. Little stress, no 'required' hours outside of lecture times, one of the most secure jobs a person could ask for, and lots of perks.

An academics life is a darn good one to lead if willing to spend the time to get there.

lol. I thought you may have been chuckling because I couldn't afford the $1500 expenditure on that other bike (or at least managed to talk myself out of it).

And I don't think I will own the bike when I eventually buy it. The bank will. They'll just be nice and let me ride it.

I think its good to think they way you did with the Kawasaki . I think I will adopt they way you think of things. It seems like the smart way to live life eh!!! And aleast with thinking the way u do u will never have a run in with the aye lol
