    Here is my two cents.
Since you have a very rare blue-black 3LN6 there is only one choice, restore it to original.
If you want to mangle it then just advertise it "as is suit restoration". You should be able to make a bob since you have a rare model and that will appeal to some. Then you can buy another "normal" fizzer and do what you like with it.
    cheers

I think also its a perfect opportunity to restore something a little unusual back to wat it should be

I think Linkin and Grasshopper want to do this as well

With the yellow bodywork being in pretty good shape and the bits from the original .... we should get a good set out of it
both tanks are junky but I have a spare

Its basically a black bike with decals ...... a spray job and hopefully the decals are available and with all the usual spit and polish , maintenance and fixing years of POs poor work...... it should be one impressive machine.

    leave it with me :D

I dunno. I like the yellow & blue scheme. Someone else can always have it repainted

I like that yellow scheme also

Main thing is to get the bike itself up to scratch ..... theres plenty to do on that side of things

when its time to fit bodywork we can repair it (tabs/cracks) so its actually fittable (is that a word? ) ..... then its at least a complete and rideable bike.

The wheels look ok from a quick look ...... theres a coating of fork oil and grime on the front and a 1 inch layer of everything on the back so the original paint has been shielded for at least a few years :D

Mr. Grey, we will need new chain & sprockets. I have thought about converting to 520 chain & sprockets vs. stock 428. Your thoughts?

I cant remember reading anything to tell me its the way to go

To me its just giving the motor more work to do ...... as Macca says , the way to play with acceleration and top speed is the gearing
I geared mine for acceleration but when cruising its RPM is too high ..... Im going to replace the front sprocket with stock

The other thing to consider with changing gearing/chain/sprockets is clearance ..... my spares bike had a 13 (I think) teeth front on it and the chain had chewed into everything over time.

Ill also throw in my usual comment about the Japanese designers/engineers of the time knew a lot more than anyone here ever will and put together a bike that worked .

I may not have ridden a ton of different bikes in my time .... but if u jump on a stock FZR250 running well you wont be disappointed .... it will leave your Ninja for dead.

    end of rant

    :dance2:

Linkin is not talking about gearing. Rather the size of the chain.
The 520 conversion is stronger and the chain will last longer, as will the sprockets. But as Mr Grey pointed out it will require some extra power to rotate the heavier chain. I will be doing that conversion on my 400 because I am lazy and sourcing those parts will involve paying a king's ransom for shipping.

@GreyImport I Sent you a reply about the order from CMSNL thanks mate!
    cheers

Stick with the stock gearing and chain size until you can 'ride the wheels off it', then think about if you really need to modify it.

could not agree more, learn the bike first before you make any changes. you'll understand and appreciate the changes more once you learn you bike and know what each change will bring :)
