Ohhhhhhhh yes I did. I bought another one. Well, a deposit on it, receipt of sale and the keys.

The previous owner has let it sit as he stopped riding. I can't imagine why... these bikes scream. It's been sitting for half a year.

The battery was dead, so I brought a spare with me. It didn't last long with all the cranking and no going. Even tried jumper leads from a car the guy was selling to charge the batt, and crank the engine, but she didn't go.

We tried roll starting down a slight hill a few times, it was cycling but still wouldn't start. By this point I had to go so we finished up the transaction. I came on @Grasshopper's FZR so no towing the bike, I will need to collect it once I pay the guy the rest, and arrange for transport (bike is near Hornsby)

It steers well, front/rear suspension is OK, fork seals are clean. The front & rear brakes work.

It also comes with a big box of nice goodies which I inspected

    Fairing kit (same as photos)
    Brand new tires
    Brand new cam chain tensioner
    Brand new cam chain
    Brand new head gasket
    Brand new windshield
    Brand new air filter
    Brand new black bike stand
Brand new spark plugs x 4
    All paperwork and recieipts

As it's not starting I will have a pretty big to do list:

    Replace oil & filter
Drain current fuel (if it can be called fuel, disgusting smelly muck more like it!)
    New battery
    Disassemble and clean carbs
    Probably check/change spark plugs
    Check valve clearences
    Replace coolant
    Put O2 in the tyres
Fix the EXUP as it's not working

Sounds like a project and a half, I did see that one on gumtree. Hopefully she's a bundle of fun when you're done.

And before Brian comments, no this one is not going to tamworth, so don't worry about filling up your carport with another FZR!

Looks good, hope it runs ok when you've done a bit to it.

I think the main thing will be to flush the carbs, change the oil & filter, coolant, and then fresh fuel. With a fresh battery to start it up.

The battery which I charged last night (which had been sitting since my starter motor issues) went a bit sad with all the cranking it was doing

OK so not really much of an update, but I plan to get this bike ready in time VJMC 2015 in Canberra.

If all goes to plan, I'll have sold the Ninja and fixed the FZR before the end of Feb - but when does anything ever go to plan, especially when it involves an FZR?

Ninja sold today and I've paid the guy the rest of his money. Pickup/Delivery is happening Sunday.

I bought a battery that fits, the only ones available were lead-acid (non sealed) from MCAS in the city.

Really not a fan of maintenance batteries but I've successfully filled it withing blinding myself or ingesting electrolyte :p

I will see if I can fill the tank a bit and get it started at all without pulling it to bits

With a newly charged 12AH battery (the one I used before was 9AH) I should be able to crank it all day

All I really need from the carb kits there are the emulsion tubes and the main jets, but spares are always handy.

The new instrument cluster... trying to fool myself into thinking I have a somewhat modern bike :D
