Just a little question been meaning to ask; How many of us here are on their L's and/or P's. And if you can share but one experience what would it be.
Wazza learner 2 years ago... Really I am still learning. Done around 14,000km in 2.5 years ADVICE: Dont get too complacent on the bike.. there is always some an unexpected hazard looming..... Saw a young person in town on a cbr250 after I knocked off work today. He pulled out to the left on a junction and gunned it. I reckon he got up to 70k ( in a 50 zone) then found some-one in an oncoming flat tray ute turning in front of him at the next junction. Boy did he stop quick. MORAL of the story: The faster you go the less time some has to see you... particularly in heavy traffic.
i was on my Ls, and now im on my P's till april '08. its good, it keeps me on a bike i wont (likely) kill myself on.. as for experiance, its quite apparent to me that you never stop learning. Right after i got my L's i was riding a borrowed Kawasaki Balius, and was following some dickhead woman driver, was about 10 meters behind her, mainly cause i find it hard to trust ANYONE in a commadore, and she indicated she was turning left, pulled to the left hand shoulder of the road. at this point i indicated to pass her, and dropped a gear, and as i was coming up next to her, the stupid deadshit swung right, and nearly collected me. Basicly, you never know what ppl are going to do, never trust anyone.
Was on L's for 4 months, just got my P's on monday.. advice would be stay out of ppls blind spots, eye contact with ppl pulling from streets, don't tailgate and don't get ahead of yourself... no matter how comfortable i feel on the bike i learn something new every time i get on..
i got my full licence last monday. One time i thought i had more fuel in the tank than i actually did...
Re: yep this is almost exactly what happened to me last week except i hit the road lucky i was only in 1st gear but its a lesson that will stick
yes the same happend to me but was riding behind a rural delivery mail van, had his left indicator on and swerved right. was doing about 80ks aswell...
got my l's last week and quickly learnt that even the toughest looking harley riders will give you a friendly nod.
Been riding for 3 months now. (L's) and i have ridden everyday since i got my bike. (pulled a few thousand kms already) Few things ive learnt. * Do not speed in the rain with hard comound tyres. * Count the KM's you get out of a full tank * Do not ride hard with cold tyres * Riding with no Rear Shock is very dangerous * Its not the riders at fault, its you mother fuckin cars. * DO NOT RIDE NEXT TO CARS, always sit behind... or infront. * DO NOT SPEED ON MAIN ROADS. (first 2 hours of my new bike and learners i got pulled over doing 70kmh over the limit) -- No.. he did not have a radar but he knew i was flying. * Always wear protection I think in a total of 3 months, ive almost come off maybe.. 10x? One of those times could have been life threatening. Just remember. Your in control. WELL I GET HER BACK TODAYY AFTER 2 MISERABLE WEEKS WITHOUT HER
I have ridden my bike once in 8 weeks (to work - 5 minute ride). Mainly due to shocking wet winter weather and also I had minor knee surgery just over a week ago, so no chance of me riding for another week.. We have had the wettest winter for 20 years, with rain nearly every day since the start of July. Winds that you would not believe. Averaged 5mm rain per day for the last 3 months, I think the highest daily was around 35mm. Yesterday 7mm, day before 12mm... Farmers can't get into the paddocks. Had lots of flooding in the east of the state early in the month, with rivers getting to levels not seen for 30 years or more. Starting to depressed coz I haven't seen the sun for quite a while And I cant ride my bike.
Only 5 Hours ago, i experienced my first case of 'death wobbles' and holy fuckin ****. It was the scariest thing i have EVER felt in my whole life. definetely made me pull over and made me very grateful i am still alive... i was opened up in 3rd gear at the time... i thought i was a gonner BUT. i hit the back break and held on for dear life and it straightened up anyone else been through the same?
got my Ps on monday!!!!!!!!!!
im on my RE till september next year then i can go for my unrestricted moto. but i will still have to be on P plates :S
On p's for another 6 months. Its funny how well the fzr can keep up at speeds under 120. On a hill climb, my mate on a triumph datona couldnt get away from me untill the fizzer overheated abit. haha. Good times. I personaly think that a 800cc rule should be inplace with all bikes restricted to say 140kmph max (with no easy way to modify without being able to tell) due to the fact that the majority of learner bikes avalible are old imports and cheap commuters. All not the safest bikes on the road usualy with next to no saftey features unlike all your 600-800cc race bikes which have the best of everything but catch is they can do 250kmph.
