Alrighty here's the new project thread!
    Picking this up soon - 1993 CBR250RR N
64000KM's, one owner in the last 10 years
    Purchasing with RWC

I don't need to replace half the things on the list below but I do a fair bit of KM's a week (close to 500) so it's for good measure.

The front fairing has a slight crack - I do have the stuff at home to plastic weld it so I'll probably do that as I couldn't find a fairing decal set which leaves painting out of question.

The chain is well lubricated but a bit grimy, so I'll clean it and will see how it comes out - pictures incoming once I take ownership!
Rear sprocket appeared to be fine
    Fork seals not leaking
The bike runs great but I want to change the main jets so I will do the seals while I'm at it
    • Clutch is a bit funny compared to the Across - I'll be replacing the clutch cable and see what it's like. I'm not familiar with wet clutches but how long do they last?
    • It has a slip on muffler (no name) which I'll be replacing with a Shorty from xcite
    • Will also get a 'Hiflofiltro' air filter
    • Have ordered a carb kit from Litetek
    • Have also ordered 110/108 main jets (someone in WA has recently hit 45whp with this combo (main jets, filter, shorty), I can only try! Yes I know every dyno & bike is different)
    • Front pads I'll change for good measure - MetalGear is on the list
    • I like a good clear Windscreen so that will get replaced as the one that's on it is looking a bit tired
    • Oil, oil filter and plugs to be changed
    • Heel guards are also looking tired and will be replaced
    • Battery may be on the list depending on how old the current one is
I'll need to modify my DIY manometer to allow for 4x carbs
I'll also remove the fairings and give everything else a really good clean as well.

Nope, as his pilot jets were standard I don't see why they're spending 70 usd just for main jets

    Picked her up today!

Started off by taking all the fairings off and giving the chassis a reasonable degrease and clean.
    IMG_20150607_132839.jpg

I'm not going to bother cleaning this chain - I'll order a new one ASAP as it has a few stiff links and looks like it's had it's time. Unsure whether the sprockets need doing - will provide pictures in a future post.
    IMG_20150607_132916.jpg

After the chassis was cleaned up, I gave the fairings a hand cut & polish, followed by a quick wax
    IMG_20150607_135243.jpg

    Result so far:
    IMG_20150607_151254.jpg

The front brake discs + pads were replaced for RWC but I really hate the colour of the disc centers! Can the centers be painted?

I had a quick look at the filter, looked pretty clean but the carbs look like they have not been touched in a long time - I've ordered a seal kit so they'll be getting a good once over too.

Of course - here's a small video, idle and a small rev

Think you've done very well, bike looks awesome :thumb_ups:
Your first step was a wise one.....a good degrease is essential
Grey is on the money...again, do the chain and sprockets together.
Yes you can paint the inner on your brake disc's.
Seal kit + a good clean of the carbs= peace of mind :thumb_ups:
Enjoy your new ride, feel certain you will. :drinks:

Lubed the throttle and clutch lines this morning as it was much needed.

For some reason the left side headlight has blown, twice. The previous owner provided me with a spare but they were 60/55 not 60/35 as standard. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Cleaned and lubed the chain - the sprocket is stuffed - going to chase up the place that done the RWC on this one

That sprocket is certainly ratshit ..... the front will be the same

If you are going to get a shop to do the work then buy the 2 sprockets and chain yourself to give to them.

Definitely stuffed, & yes, replace both sprockets & chain as a set.
Don't skimp on quality though, buying cheap chain set. They just don't last.
Generally, that wear doesn't mean the bike is unroadworthy though.

So today was my first proper day riding the MC22 (200KM's throughout a lot of twisties) ... I'm impressed! You can definitely notice the weight difference compared to the Across.

I replaced the headlight yet again but it lasted all day! Still the wrong globe (60/55) - I'm not too sure where I'd be able to get the standard 60/35 locally - will shop around when I've got time.

I originally thought something was wrong with the clutch but after today I can say the plates are fine - it's the cable return that's weak - I'm not sure what I'd need to replace but I'm thinking cable and clutch springs.

I decided I will paint the front discs - I'll try find a Gold colour that's similar to the original discs. How high temperature do the centres get? Any paint will suffice?

Lubricate your clutch & throttle cable(s). Use WD40 if you have no other proper lube. Inox does the job pretty well.

Get a proper cable lube tool.
I just squirt WD40 through to clean them, then use chain lube on clutch cables & Inox on the throttle cables.

The disc centers don't get hot, so any paint will do.
If you use caliper paint, you can give your calipers a freshen up at the same time :)

Here's my sprocket less than 1 week later :)

Big thanks to David for getting me out of trouble (used rear sprocket) until the new chain and sprocket set arrive
    IMG_20150612_214750.jpg

Also had my switch block fail today - no low beam, only high beams - so just soldered the low beam to be permanently on even with high beam until I can find another one.
