well i ve just joined the club fellers i now own one dont think theres a lot out here in the west though parts over here will be a pain
not really ive been looking for over a year i dont think theres any in perth this one came from sydney shipping ant cheap for 4500km i will post up some pics shortly iam just sorting my 21 out as ive done nothing to it since i bought it and that was over a year ago
heres the pics of the bike i promised - enjoy was told the bike has had some mods done like usd front end - airbox has been cut open - aftermarket pipes - front head fitted to rear - and would imagine its had a wire splice done as coming from qld its missing the rear pillion gear - was told its cheaper rego over there - doesnt make a difference here so i need a rear seat
Very nice score. A 250cc GP bike with a single sided swingarm. I think the value of that one will not go down very much. If you can keep it looking standard-ish. Did you get the original front end with it? You don't need a pillion seat. Pillion seats are for BMWs
Hi Noah, Keep your eyes open on eBay and you will probably pick one up cheap enough from the next person that is taking one of the best modern classics ever made and blinging it. Then if you ever do decide to sell you can get top dollar. As for being common in Thailand I don't think so. Most motorcycles here are ridden into the ground with zero maintenance. I want to get a VFR400 or CBR400RR as my next bike, but difficult to get one with original bodywork. Most of them have had the aftermarket treatment. Very popular with Thai teenagers that kind of styling, but not my cup of tea. cheers Blair
Looks nice Noah. The plastics look original (apart from the extra stickers) and if so, its a 94 R2R model. Looks like RVF400 front forks in the photos I think. They are a common conversion. Shame you didn't get them as the cost to buy the forks and do the swap isn't cheap. To be honest though, the original forks are pretty damn good in any event; especially on the SE or SP. People swap them to upside down for the looks more than anything else. You lose steering lock with upside down forks as well so they are not that good for the road. Looks like billet rear-sets (maybe Coerce) as well as the after market exhaust. Nice score. Did you get the original exhaust and rear sets with the bike? As Maelstrom was saying, stock seems to be what people are doing with these bikes. Stock MC28s on Japan Yahoo Auctions are fetching over 10 grand and going up. I think you'll find they would have put a rear cylinder head on the front barrel as well, rather than the other way around. The front cylinder head has an offset plug stock so there is enough clearance with the radiator. The HRC kit for the MC28 is basically a rear cylinder head on the front, a different radiator hose, stubby spark plug (not cheap) and low line plug lead (also not cheap). As far as the wire splice goes, it's only useful on the MC28 if the bike also has an HRC ignition. The splice is different to the one done with the MC21 - it's really only to get what lights you can get working with the HRC ignition. The HRC card ignition is what advances the timing unlike the MC21. With the 21, it is the wire splice that changes the timing. If it does come with an HRC card, check what the version the card is. You have to use different types of fuel depending on the version of HRC card otherwise you'll lunch the engine. If you are after parts I highly recommend Tyga, Redline Powersports, Japan Webike, and Yahoo Japan Auctions. Cheers Mate Jim
Welcome to the greatest club of all.....NSR 250, dosnt matter if its a MC16,18,21 or 28 because they are all great little bikes. Love the pics and keep us boys on the east updated. I went for a spin Chrissy day and I can say it set the day up. Happy new year to everyone. Briz.
Sounds great Briz. Nothing like a two fifty two banger in the twisties. Happy new years to you too. I can't wait to get mine back on the road. Unfortunately I don't think it will be before I get back from work sometime in mid February though damn it.
