I am thinking about making up a small number of dashboard foam surrounds to suit the MC19.
The parts will be made from expanded polyethylene and look very original.

    Any one interested?

Price is going to be about $30 based on current estimates.

    Peter.

If @jmw76 doesn't reply I'd be keen to have a go at making them.
Bought a CNC router a couple of months ago and have been playing around, wouldn't be hard to make if someone could provide a top down photo for the shape and some measurements.

    Hi Guys,
Is there any other interest in these?
Currently 2 members have shown interest.
If I can get a few more interested then I can make a small production batch.

Hi Peter, how did you go experimenting with the foam dial surround? Did you manage to knock a few out (so to speak!).
    Cheers,
    Mat

Hi Guys, Sorry still no real progress beyond the 1 prototype that I built by hand. I will investigate some cost effective tooling option during the next week or 2.
Can I get some confirmation of how many people might want these.
Just a simple post with the number you need would be fine.
    Peter.

    My advice:
It is one of those 'if you build it they will come' things, but you must go into it prepared to lose. Also consider that if it does go well the Chinese will start making them and selling them for $1 each. If you can establish that you are using a good quality material as opposed to what the Chinese will use (cheapest junk possible) then good customers will buy from you. You can also win the logistics battle and there is not a lot of goodwill towards the Chinese at the moment. You just need to be able to swallow the tooling cost. I have spent a lot of money on tooling and a lot of it I have not got back, but it gives our business a range of products that are not available from elsewhere and helps the community.
    Cheers
    Blair

    Ok.

Spent a little time of recent and have been able to make up some tooling for low volume production of the dashboard foam panel for the MC19s. I need to get hold of a bit more raw material and then I will be doing a initial run of 10 pieces. Hopefully I will be able to make these up within the next 2 weeks.
If this works out successfully I will be making up tooling to produce dash foam for the CBR250RR (MC22)/CBR900RR (SC28) as well as the CBR900RR (SC33). Price for each is going to be A$25 + tax + post/freight. All dash surrounds will be cut from UV stable PE foam.

    Yeah.
I have not forgotten about you all. I have just been having trouble getting hold of the appropriate material. In these covid times it is proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Would be awesome having a fresh surround for the race bike.
