Evvvveen though I personally wouldn't get one. I wouldn't throw out the idea of the Ninja 300. It is also a great choice.
Efi, new, has it's own race class.

    Shame about the cost though.
But if you are prepared to get your hands dirty then yeah mc22 or zxr.

There's always gonna be something wrong I wrecken.
Dirty carbs, bad plugs, needs a battery, worn sprockets, loose chain, indicators playing up. Could be anything and sadly a quick test ride won't reveal a lot of these problems.

A used Ninja 300 is a last resort. For a bike i'm going to have for 2 years it's too expensive and in my personal opinion is only half as fun to ride as a CBR.

At least 99% of the times I go to ride it it would start drama free though haha.

Since you put the ZXR in my head though I've researched them more and I quite like them. Different to the CBR and looks loads of fun as well. However the lack of parts and not many people knowing about them scares me off ownership a bit. I'm no mechnical genius so this may come back and bite me hard if I found a decent ZXR.

Also before the old pages got deleted I posted a gumtree ad of a bike I was looking at online with the details of the condition it was in from what the owner told me over the phone. Did anyone see that?

re: Lack of parts or mech problems on zxr. Its really not as bad as people make out, all the general maintenance stuff is readily available for them.
As far as major parts for them are concerned I do see them, but major parts dont really need to be replaced unless you crash. (or you blow up the engine for one reason or another).
I honestly wouldnt take the rare/parts thing into account in your situation. If your buying a fully functional zxr250 and look after it, everything you need is available.

Id put it down to cost, condition and what you prefer the look of between the cb and zx.

My opinion I love old inline 4 250 get one but if u only using to commute and gonna upgrade to bigger bike as soon as ur licence upgrades then get a ninja 300 cbr400/500 heaps of fun easy to ride and parts everywhere not that u would need as long as u maintain it plus resale I promise u will flick a new 300 etc quick than a inline 4 when needed

Ninja 300 is also the most popular bought bike this year so far

I dunno why but that guy makes me laugh.
I dont like the tyres. It doesnt state if its the pre 1994 mc22 or post 1994 mc22.
All that stuff he bought sounds like he found excite bikes and went to town.
Ride it, if you like it then why not.

Oh yeah like Mclaren said "if it really was tuned and balanced ect ect ect" there should be a dyno result somewhere.
Fyi my bike is tuned wrong and it got 40hp if that helps you get a bench mark for whats decent and whats not.

Sorry for spamming. But another thing to note is why is he selling it???
He is still on his L's it would seem.
    Why not put a reason?
Even if he said "I just enjoy spending heaps on money to make a bike look good then get bored and move onto the next".
    Thats cool, say it.

The rep from xcite bikes also linked me that "big carby " cbr. I saw it months ago and its still for sale. Also not long ago i swear they said they added 12 months rego on it and now it says its got no rego. So im a bit skeptical and confused about the condition of that bike. Do you guys know the seller or something?

No but it has rosso II's on it (good tyres) its 1991 (they actually do go hard, as he says), it looks cool and it decent shape and yeah appart from "the massive carbies that clearly outsize any other carby" it really does look like a good bike.
Contact the seller and try it out.
I am actually sure you will be less disappointed in it vs "brand new, brand new, brand new, tuned and jetted with no dyno results, did i mention brand new!!!!?".

My bike was sitting around for a while before i bought it also. cbr owners charging 3+k do sit around.
It honestly could be a bargain. Id even be happy to come check it out with you, you can test my bike out vs it as well just to check if its everything it says it is.
Just get a CBR already so we can go for a ride!!!
I am no expert at cbr's but if it has any problems I have been slightly been around the block with them *nods* we can get it going good.

Well i guess it wouldnt hurt to give them a ring tomorrow and see what they have to say. And yeh trust me i want one badly so i can just start riding again. Definately up for a cruise mate once i shake off the rider rust haha. Just curious howcome at 3k they sit around considering how much they sell for on average thats kinda cheaper for one thats up and running well. Also is that a rusty chain on it?
