Hey - doing a engine rebuild. Bike was eating oil on a 6 hour ride. Found this on one of the valves - what is it? Should i chip it off?

    Thanks.

It is just burnt oil. Use a wire brush in a drill if you are not going to take the valves out of the head.

Unburnt fuel can also help the carbon etc build up in the combustion chamber's and on top of the piston's
You could also use Threebond Super Engine Conditioner from Repco, spray it on, let it soak then scrub it off, it's also great for cleaning carbon and oil etc off piston's and between the piston's and ring's
