    What a silly rule.
We do not have single seat registration here in Vic. Just registration based on engine size. Smaller bikes = lower cost.

If your 1oo% sure of winning the case why not fork out for a lawyer. The magistrate will also recognize your taking the matter seriously. I represented myself in civil court once and won but it became pretty obvious I was way out of my depth almost from the word go. If you win and are awarded costs the penis head copper may even get a wrap over his nasty little knuckles for generating substantial, unnecessary costs to the govt coffers.

Many years ago when Dad was driving truck interstate the coppers in some towns were notorious - anyway one driver got pulled over and slapped with defects for tyres, headlights and something else which I can no longer remember - so he went straight to the tyre guy and got a stat dec that they were legal, then straight onto the electrician and a stat dec for the lights.

Got a lawyer, beat the infringements obviously and took the copper down for malicious prosecution which is a tortious (civil) offence and went him for costs of the whole damn lot

Now the question becomes, did the copper behave himself after that, I don't know that part of the story.

I do know that you don't want a copper with a gripe out to get you, but if you've got his measure you may just get left alone - flip a coin

Another story, decades ago, perhaps even half a century ago when the trucks didn't have the ponies that they do now, they'd have to gain a little on the descents to make it back up the ascents, at night the coppers would slide in behind them with their lights off and catch them on the descents.
Truck driver catches a glint of their wing mirror with them right up the back of the trailer, nose to tail and then slams the brakes - that did not end well for the coppers, it was terminal

Bikers be crazy, truckers be crazier

I was arrested for proceeding through a red traffic signal. The light stops one lane of traffic entering onto a bridge while traffic from a one-way road enter on the left. There was no traffic coming but a cop saw me do it. What can I say, I was having a bad day. The cop asked the mandatory question 'Do you have any reason .....?". To which I replied, "I breached a section of the traffic code, stiff sh*t, write the ticket". So he arrested me on a charge of dangerous driving or some such. After I signed my statement the cop added another section that said I was suicidal and wanted to 'take out the police officer'. Yep, on my 250cc chook bike at 20 kph when he was behind me. When this load of bollocks was read out in court I nearly fell of my chair. The judge, seeing my reaction, asked me if that was my statement. I told him the first part was and the second part was not. He dismissed the case and told the cops to stop tampering with statements. I didn't even have a fine for the infringement and no demerit points. Moral of the story? When you sign a statement cross off all the blank sections or the cops will fill it with fairy tales.

WOW!! a copper willing to verbal you on a traffic ticket - glad that they have both audio and video recorded these days, however it seems the cameras are rarely on in those moments

I guess it's just the way the penny drops
