I always fit non oring MX chains to my 250s.

Put a DID ERT2 on my R3 and it went from not being able to spin the back wheel on a stand to it running like a swiss watch.

No other power upgrade could make such a difference.

Thats interesting stuff .... I was originally looking at them for the bling factor but they seem very usuable in all applications

    Very cheap @Murdo :thumb_ups:

Had this conversation with workmates recently. Decided it was unnecessary to change to a non o-ring as the power loss though friction once the chain is warm and moving freely would be so minimal that it wouldn't be worth the excess wear of a non o-ring.

    Lotto- DID EDS2 (250cc road racing)around $250
    Realistic- ERT2 (250/450cc MX) around $130

I like the convenience of clips but rivet links are available,
Proddies are stuck with 520's which are 1000cc chains so both these do the job easy on 30-40hp bikes.

Prefer a longer wheelbase and the chance to experiment with wheelbases and ratios until confident,
then I sometimes fit a rivet link when the gearing is best.
    Trakdayz don't like clip type,
my argument is my 20-40hp millimetre perfect OCD owned maintained and lube bikes are not some muppets rusty neglected overtightened stretched 200hp streetbike

Cant recommend other brands as I know and trust DID only and chains are important,
Ive never had to replace a chain on bike I bought new in 40 yrs as I run them on the max slack (40-50mm) and keep them wet.
Lanox MX4 for cleaning, and the odd squirt of maxima clear chain wax, after the first and last session of the day.

Undecided on what to use on the MC22 as Im still hunting sprockets, advantage is the 428 is so nice and light.

When you come in from a session, spin the rear wheel, you'll see where the hp is wasted.
These are 250cc bikes, we don't have any to waste.

*On a neglected uni students lams bike i'd recommend stock 520 O ring, but for track and racing we need performance.
