    Hi guys,
    Thanks for letting me in.
    Heres my ride
Slightly retro style vlc intruder *250cc learner bike - now got my license so working towards a "real" bike :)
Mods (so far): large 7" headlight, custom pillion, new mufflers (stock HD muffler that gives you a pretty good sound considering), TT style handle bar and custom rear mirrors, reworked plastic chrome air filter covers (painted in wrinkle finish), Custom made saddle bag and fittings - working on getting a short retro style sissy on it.

The intruder is not by any mean a bad bike - gives u that cruiser feel but the weight is an issue (especially when you ride up towards +100 km/h (side winds not to speak of having a pillion passenger on is a bit of an issue on occasion, that bogs down to the light overall weight of the bike) - so even though I like the style (except all plastic sheit that comes with it), its still basically a really good bike (and a good learner bike that train you into larger cruisers) chess vlc intruder.jpg

Where is the tech thread on this forum - would like to discuss a weird knocking sound I failed to track down, that seem to come from just down the front end of the tank (nothing mechanical/engine), more a sound of something loose that tend to come and go depending on speed - not coming from the steering or front wheel or anything - tried to get the tank off but got to the point where I noticed the front end of the tank is held on by some weird rubber grommets and Im buggered how to get the tank off.
Back part of the tank is held on by a cross bolt, but the front part seem to be held on by rubber grommets on either side and being a solid tank (not split), I have no idea how to get the tank off.
Anyway, the sound seem to come and go at low speed (and appears to resonate just down the front end of the tank (but above the top cylinders) - so trying to work out where/what this weird noise is

    Welcome, nice looking bike.
Have you checked the steering head bearings for movement as this may be your noise?

I searched for manuals for this but couldnt find anything ... the 125 is supposedly the 'same' ... but nothing on that either

    Some parts schematics ...

    https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/suzuki-parts/motorcycles/vl250-intruder-2000.aspx

The tank looks like it could be the same arrangement as my old Suzuki GSX tank .... rubber grommets on 'rods' on the chassis and the tank just slips down on to them at the front and bolts at the back ..... lift slightly at the back as u pull back and it should come off with a bit of a wriggle as well

    Welcome to the forum :thumb_ups:

I guess you could post your noise question here
    Suzuki 250cc Twin's

The tank should come off backward's toward's the seat area with the rear bolt removed and fuel tap/line disconnected, sometime's you need to give them a wiggle at the back and pull the tank backward's to get them off.
