Fuel pump push's a fair bit of fuel out with each pump, filter and hose's are all good, fuel tap need's a Litetek seal kit as it's getting tight turning it off and on, so i may as well replace the tank pickup seal while i'm at it too.

Checked out the float level's with it back together, carb's 1 and 3 were still too high (12mm) so i've readjusted them and tuned the mixture's to suit.
I think the mixture screw's might be a bit worn as they were very touchy when i was adjusting them so that's another pro for getting the Keyster kit's.
All pipe's are close on 200°C after tuning it now, i'm just going to have a break for a bit and i'll take it out tonight for another test ride.
While it was apart i checked the resistance through all the spark plug cap's and found 2 of them were reading 8Ω so i swapped over a couple of spare's that were 10Ω

Yeah they are assembled the same as that, that's how they came out when i first took them apart too.
O'ring's are fitted under the top cap's too

The bike feel's a lot stronger through the rev's now, i did notice a bit of smoke when i took off quick a couple of time's, although it was just after sunset and might have shown up a bit more from the car behinds' headlight's.
On the way back home i rode through Westfield shopping centres' carpark and went up the ramp to the 2nd level carpark, there was no hesitation or sign's of it stalling at all,
i even dropped it back to first and slowed right down then sped up again.
Think that problem might be fixed, it also never felt like it was going to stall when pulling up to the red traffic light's quick either.

Got the carb's back together the other night but didn't get a chance to refit them till tonight.
I picked up a couple of new breather/filter's today and fitted them as well, the barb's were too small so i slipped the filter's directly into the hose with a little superglue on to hold them in there
While the carby's were off yesterday i cleaned up the engine a bit too
I should be able to tune it monday morning and take it out for a ride

Yeah they are pretty good i think, similar to the airstone's for aquarium's.
My mate has an automotive part's shop, Car Part's Plus not far from me, they cost me $6 ea plus the brass barb's $3ea (which i didn't use).
They are used as diff breather's and fuel tank breather's etc.
Ebay has them but they are expensive @ $20 ea !

I was going to order a couple of the tiny pod filter's, might still order them as they are dirt cheap too @ $2.80ea inc delivery

These look good, however do they constrict airflow at all?
Speculation, they may damp the slide movement if they restrict airflow.

The mini pod filters look the goods to keep particulates out of the upper slide cavities, I know mine were filthy when I pulled them down to clean them

The hole through the middle is smaller than the OE filter/breather,
but they are still pretty free flowing, and there's no chance of tiny bit's of dirty foam being let into the top of you carby

I think someone posted once that the insides of the stock ones had crumbled and they found a zillion little black bits inside the carbs

Yeah, when i was rebuilding the carby's, i pulled all the diaphram's out and found there was a bit more crumbled foam in 2x of the top's again
So i pulled the OE filter apart and found it had no foam at all in between the 2x filter screen's, that must have been the one from the 2x clean carby's

Interesting, when I pulled my carbs down all of that disintegrated foam was all through the upper slide cavities.

I do seem to recall removing the rest from the filters but can't recall for certain.
I've found the dust mask discs for gas respirators are good filtration, I use them on my air compressors

The FZR is back together and running again, time to take it for a test ride i think.

Had to cut the ride short due to the way it was running.
Bike now start's with 3/4 choke so must be a bit leaner in the pilot circuit, mixture screw is set at 3.25 turn's out.
From 1/8 throttle to almost half throttle was a big stutter, over rich
From just over half throttle it start's to come alive, then it'll rev to redline without a problem
I will have to pull the carby's tomorrow and lower the needle and tune it again from there

I've had a play around with the mixture's again this morning.
I fitted some exhaust wrap on the radiator hose's to stop myself from getting burnt if i slip too, much better now i can rest my finger's on it if need be.
It might help keep some heat out of the fuel bowl's too.
I'm off for another test ride soon.
