Have been doing a bit on my 84 Kr250 and having a bit of trouble getting it fired up. I have good compressions, clean carbs and fuel, spark when I kick it over. The spark is good at kicking speed, but when I put it on the rollers and give it a spin the plugs spark twice and then stop. Seems that when engine speed gets above kicking speed something stops working. Any clues as to what might be the problem?
Sounds like electrical breakdown under load. Not too familiar with KR's, but I'd have a look at 3 things to start off with: Ignition coil CDI Pick-up coil
No points, but a rather technical electronic system. It has good spark when kicked, so I don't think coils or 'black boxes'. Coils check ok to the readings in the manual. Suspect the pick up but wondered if anybody else had come across this problem.
Did someone cast a spell on Tamworth last week end, Murdo and Grey are both encountering issues.?????
Just worn out after last weekend (and all the worries leading up to it). Now a serious lack of enthusiasm.
That tends to happen, big build up and then nothing. It will all come back, just time for a mini break.
