    Welcome oldpara173

Good that you have the bike running the clean up can happen as you have some fun with it.

Ok, so it's taken a while but I've finally picked up a project - time will tell if I've bitten off more than I can chew.

    A ~79 Suzuki GT250 X7  - Some assembly required

Haha, thanks for inspiration. I'm going to need it.
First steps will be to completely strip everything down and see where I stand and figure out what parts I need to find. I already know there's a few.

    Hey Crspy
Welcome to the forum and WELL DONE on your project choice. Having had the same thoughts as you some time back, I too bought a Suzuki GT250X7 and have loved it ever since. Please feel free to ask if you need any assistance or parts as I still have a few bits over. They are a fun bike and considering the age they still go strong. Happy to help, send me a PM if you need anything.
                                                                    Cheers    Phil

Thanks for providing this forum .and the other things on the site ... looks great. I just joined today and am excited about the possibility of getting some ideas on how to get my Kawaski ZXR 250c (1995) running again. Really happy about the availability of the manuals on your site (the big draw card for me) and I hope to access them before too long (after I get my paypal payment organised).

My situation? Well with a bit of home-servicing (new spark plugs etc) I recently got the bike running again ..woohoo. This was after it had sat in storage for a couple of years so I was over the moon to have it tick over and to get a really good running sound from it as well. But that's now changed. Last week I was preparing it for rego (needed a new horn) when, for no apparent reason, she wouldn't start. She's now a dead bike. The starter motor won't respond when I turn the key. I don't even get a click sound. I have found a great youtube vid that gives instrutions on how to locate and fix the problem ...see here

but I cant find where the solenoid or the starter motor are located on my bike. I'm wondering if I can éasily access, pullout and test these components myself (as per the vid) or if its a tricky job which might best be handled by a specialist. Appreciate any help from anyone who has handled this situation before.

Welcome to the forum, zxr250c.......NICE :thumb_ups: fact it won't start..... not so good.
Question Did it abruptly stop working or was it gradual, like draining the battery ??
If abrupt I would hazard a guess you have blown a fuse somewhere. This does occur
from time to time and generally is an easy fix.
Keep us posted on your progress.

    I have just bought a 1980 Honda CB250RS.

When they first appeared on the market I was about half the age I am now and thought that if I ever bought a road bike that it would be a CB250RS.

Prior to that, while I had ridden bigger bikes, I had never owned one over 175cc. I have always been more impressed by small bikes than big ones and I prefer simplicity to complexity, so it isn't surprising that the CB250RS appealed to me. Two of my brothers owned one each back on about the 1990s, so I had ridden one years ago.

My recent previous bikes had been mostly dirt bikes. I started with a Honda S90, then a Honda CL175, added a Honda 50 (bored out to 60cc), and a Hodaka 100, then a Maico 125 Enduro and finally a Honda SL125 (stroked to 145 and then bored out to 175cc, running on alcohol on Sundays and petrol through the week).

There isn't a lot to say about the bike itself. It looks about as good as you could expect a 35 year old bike to look, runs well and doesn't seem to need any work done on it at the moment.

Welcome Allan, enjoy your time on here.
Sweet, that is certainly a good looking example. I too like the Honda singles with SL125's, XL's, FT500 and NX650 in my shed.

    Awesome, another CB250RS owner! :welcome:

There seem to be a lot more of them on Gumtree lately too...

3 is enough for now - Scarlet is due for some attention and re-registration soon!

Edit: Also, :welcome: to KJB too!
