she does sound abit boggy still. Needs that Litetek kit mate probs give the jets another soak in 3bond as well
Gotta remember the the air box ain't sealed too... So there is a couple of contributing factors.. biggest is that clutch
also check that i put the needles in the right spot i have since found out zxr's are meant to have different size needles for the inner and outer carbies
Today I decided to sort out the clutch.. And I did just that but now I have ridden it again I have noticed some other issues.. 1. The exhaust has a hole, same places as always where the 4into1 are.. Just hoping it is not the internals like the other exhaust I have.. 2. The revs take a long time to idle back down.. But this could be because of my sealing issues witch will be fixed once I cleaned and re-sealed the carbs and trumpets.. Well i hope its the case.. But the carb issues I will attempt to sort out after I get the seal kit... Don't want to have to keep rebuilding them for nothin 3. Although the bike does not over heat there does seem to be fluid coming out of the over flow bottle's over flow?.. But at least it tells me there is coolant moving around the bike.. So it looks like fairings off and time to tinker again..
I think I'm in need of help... So today I took off the headers so I can weld them up at work tomorrow.. Now I thought "stuff it lets see if the track bike headers sound any different".. Turns our the track bike headers are not from a zxr but the fitted up fine... I then turned the bike over and something was a miss, the bike wouldn't idle and was wanting to stall... So I got my trusty spray bottle and #3 and #4 headers were cold and the exhaust smelt like fuel.... So my questions are: 1. Could the small amount of rust that was in the fuel from the other tank be clogged in the jets? It wasn't thick rust more like rust dust... 2. Is it a possibility that my engine has low compression and my track bike engine is in better condition? 3. Would the headers being from a different bike change the back pressure thus changing the vacuum through the engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Because it has me stuffed why it keeps doing this.. I swear i never had this many issues with my cibby.. cheers Tim
The fuel isn't being burnt so it must be ignition, you can smell it so there's delivery through the carbies. Check the plugs are sparking first, swap them around if they aren't & see if it follows the plugs. Might be that the plugs have fouled due to the rusty fuel, no fuel filter?
^^^^ good advice tim if its 3 and 4 its atleast not coils. i would wager you have a couple of fouled plugs. did you crank for a fair while? as you may have flooded those two cylinders and the plugs may have been weak already wheras the other 2 plugs might just have enough left to fire the extra fuel. My advice is buy 4 brand new plugs and gap them, fully rebuild the carbs with the litetek kit fix that exhaust and airbox, GET AN INLINE FUEL FILTER (high flow) and you will be flying
Mate can u elaborate on that a little ...... what brand/kind do u use and where do u get it from? .... and the cost ...?
I honestly can't lol I got mine at team motor it was like $8 I will get you guys a photo tomorrow. I just know for my bike a paper one didn't flow fast enough and the carbs used to run out of fuel at highway speed. 10k rpm does that.
I got this off ebay for the FZR250 & no issues, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXCELLEN...otorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item1c32323417&_uhb=1 and I run another the same on the ZXR750 & no issues & the tank was filthy. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fuel-Pet...otorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item4173bad14f&_uhb=1 Sounds like it's something else, you must have your reasons for thinking it's starving at revs, keep an open mind, sometimes it's the opposite. Could be the inlet needles aren't holding while garaged & the inlet manifolds are flooding, maybe just a little & on startup she fouls sometimes. A carby rebuild will rule that out
