Hi Darrel_B - It might be helpfull if you could write a bit better description of what actually happened to your bike, noises it made, etc.. that way people may be able to relate their similar experiences to you for your benefit.

Is the engine seized?

Does it try to crank over when you hit the start button??

What is the battery volts when sitting with ignition on, and also when cranking? (measure with a multimeter)

if it were to be seized, i found a bare motor for the fzr 250, do you think that is enough for the bike or do i need anything else to go with that.... my bike is a 1998 model or so it says on the registration.... but i dont know how to check what model i have really.... please give me some thoughts.... i would really want to ride it soon....

Have you checked your kill switch? maybe you hit it by mistake.

I had someone flick my killswitch when my bike was parked, i came back, put the key in the ignition turned it and the red oil light came on!! I hit the start button and i got nothing!! i was so worried about the oil cos the light that i never thought to check the switch.

I may also be completely wrong, but taking a few seconds to check the killswitch cant hurt.

I wouldnt just get all hastey and start pulling out your engine, If i was you, id get a hold of a trailer and take it down to your local bike shop and ask just for a quote on whats wrong with it, that way they can lead you into the right direction into fixing it yourself, or it might not even be that bad, maybe something simple and they may be able to fix it for you for a small cost..

yeah i would but no one would really want to look at my bike.
i've gotten in touch with all the major shops and the little ones but they're all just knocking me back cos they say my bikes too old for the mto service and they dont know where to begin with it.

[EDIT]
If you know anyone in and around Melbourne who would look at the bikes we all know and love(fzr250) then let me know and big props for finding it.

Take one of the side covers off- I think its the right side (anyone) which should expose the crank end. Make sure its in neutral. Get a decent spanner onto the nut and see if she will turn. If you cant get her to turn, it is seized.

let us know

Im guessing maybe a starter motor may be gone now, since nothing happens when you push your start button unlike before where it used to try crank over.. sounds more like an electrical fault.. fuse?
