I got a spare tank which i have cleaned and sealed as the old one was so bad i could push my finger through it but as the title says there is a fair smell of fuel coming from the tank cap. I,m guessing it,s that old i need a new tank cap would i be right in saying this i dont want to fork out cash if it,s the tank itself coz i notice it has been filled around the cap with isopon or somethin. See i cleaned and sealed it before i stripped the paint then found this im planning on painting it soon but i don,t wanna be forkin out cash unless i,m sure hence the thread. Any thoughts?
I assume we are talking about an FZR250? (can u put that in your profile - thanx) Can u post up some pics of the area u are talking about? Have u had the cap assembly off ? what condition are the rubber seals ?
i think maybe the seals might be the problem alright. Are they expensive to change? yes it,s an fzr3ln
As far as I know u cant get the seals alone. Have u removed the whole assembly to see if its rusted out underneath? .... and to see the condition of that bottom rubber? I would think the actual cap seal would be the one to seal the fumes out. You can get these cheap but they dont include that main base rubber. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3386bb4df8
Fair play to ya fella that,s very cheap i had another look at it the cap isn,t sitting flush with the rest of the assembly i think i,ll get one of those since they are so cheap.
