Hi Everybody, I'm chasing a SE Qld based Mechanic who can finish off my wife's VJ21 RGV build. The bike was started by another shop, who have probably taken the bike to about 90 percent complete. It just needs to have the throttle/ powervalve cable assembly finished, rear brake caliper assembled installed and brake system bleed, some electrics finished and a few other bits and pieces. Then it should be right for start up and a tune. (pending the usual gremlins of a fresh build). I'm confident the work that's been done so far has been done right, the project just stalled (I think over 4 years should be long enough, considering we never held back on handing over money) so we picked it up and are now trying to find somebody who is actually interested in this type of work. Everything on the bike is either new, rebuilt or good secondhand parts. I'm a car guy, so bikes are not my strong point. A mans got to know his limitations! Thanks for reading!
Give Marty a call at Ignite, he is a 2 stroke wizard.....loves the bloody things. @Fox McScrooge NSR has graced Marty's shop. i promise you that you will never go anywhere else after dealing with Marty. if you do contact him tell him Paddy sent you! But i suggest pop into him and have a chat see what he's all about and check out his shop, tell him what your after and he'll make 2 stroke dreams come through! http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/ignite-mechanical-custom.2291/ http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/ignite-mechanical-and-custom/stafford#reviews
I agree Marty is pretty good. Got him to make up some one off hangers for the pipes on my NSR. Did a great job. He also did a few things like fix up a grip that had moved and tightened up a few loose bolts I hadn't got around to. Free of charge without me asking. He didn't tell me. I just noticed later he'd done it. He had some pretty good examples of fabrication work in there. Things like tig welded stainless 60 series snorkel, nice looking rock sliders on the same 60. Looked like a nice Datty 1200 Ute on the hoist as well. Has a lot of his own bikes including some pretty cool custom cafe racers and stuff. Told me he runs a 2 stroke off-road Facebook page as well. That said mate, it sounds like most of what your RGV needs is pretty simple. You could have a crack at sorting out the cables and brakes yourself. Easy peasy. Plenty of help on Google or here for that matter. May be worth getting someone who knows what they are doing to check the engine though.
