Willing to bet you'll be finished in NO TIME! clutches are not too hard to change, just one piece of advise, do not over tighten the bolts that hold your springs in place, can lead to a whole lot of heartache. Good luck with it Tyson.:thumb_ups:

So i have the clutch case off and have been able to remove the springs and plates easy as pie, now is where the fun begins :p If i were replacing the plates and that was it i would be finished by now. but because i want to remove the basket and flywheel to tension the alternator chain some snags have been hit. For the life of me i cant get the 36mm nut to budge, i haven't rounded it but because it is only 5mm in width the socket slips off for like no reason. i think its torqued to like 1,000,000nm.

Does anyone in brisbane have a rattle gun i can borrow??? PLEASE. Or any other tips? @Murdo @cal @Willrcr15 @Mclaren I am about to give up on it and put it in the too hard basket ( see what I did there LOL) having spent $70 in sockets and adapters to no avail. It really does need doing as i can move the chain with 1 finger 5mm either way 2cm below a cog.

Secondly, easiest way to remove an old gasket?? it is very stuck and coming off in 1mm intervals @Murdo @GreyImport @kiffsta

    Cheers Fellas

ahhh bro that sucks, all my air tools currently reside in WA..

bunnings or masters have a cheap Cobalt or Rossi 1/2" rattle gun for like +/- $50 if things get desperate mate.

To remove an old gasket I use one of those cheapo razer bladed type window scrapers .... just a steady, light , easy as u go method so your not digging into the metal.

then to clean up and even the surface some, rub the cover on a perfect flat surface , ie a piece of glass , with a sheet of wet and dry emery paper ..... preferably wet. .... tape the paper to the glass if needed

Cheers Guys, I even resorted to cutting the socket down so i have that extra 2mm of contact patch. so if anyone needs to borrow a 36mm socket let me know lol, Looks like im buying a rattle gun :p

As for the gasket, I used a box cutter blade so far, what a PITA lol

Box cutters are for cutting boxes and hijacking 747s into the sides of office towers
Window scrapers are for taking off old gaskets from engine covers

i have both a milwaukee brushless 18v 1/2" drive gun and a Chicago pneumatic air gun.... and 80% of the jobs i get the cordless can do it easy - even the boys in my workshop pinch my cordless gun lol.
the twin hammer air gun has buttloads more oomph... but the wireless can fit in tight spots easy and does slay a 3/8" compact air gun.

hey Tyson, here is a *Very accurate and to scale* image of how the clutch fibres need to be :thumb_ups::lolsign:
ALSO... wise words from my moto mechanic - "soak the fibres in 4T oil overnight before installing them, otherwise the clutch can burn the fresh fibre surface within a matter of 500km's"

i charge no royalties for this amazing image.

i know you are NOT a rookie, but this can catch a few out.
