So I bought a new bike.... a ZXR750/ZX7R

    Should look and sound great :) good to support an Australian business where I can. I'll probably get some levers thru them as well :) A mate has one on his hyo gt650r if a screaming demon can make that sound good should do wonders for my 750 lol

    The 650r is a v twin so does actually sound pretty good, doesn't mean it's not the Great Wall of bikes lol. Haha, I actually like them they look bloody good :)

    Yea the 250 is a V twin also .... and yea they look good ..... 250 is supposedly the same size dimensions etc as the 650 for interchangeability of parts.

    250 is a real whiner though .... I didn't get a chance to try with out the muffler on ..... but if u look at the photos of the headers in my thread and the pissy pipes and constrictions and the box would be some kind of resonator .... Id say thats where the problems lies.
    Terrible build quality in that area also...... looks like a backyard job.

    Yeah I believe they threw the 250 engine in the same frame as the 650. Yeah I did see those pipes LOL

    So I rode today on a brand spanking new tyre, my god aren't the slippery, I didn't
    Believe just how much of a difference the sheen you have to wear off can make.

    About halfway thru the day I finally had some confidence in it and reckon I did a pretty good job :p

    Finally bit the bullet and took the clutch cover off to see what was going on and was met by a few depressing sights, update to come when I'm less furious with myself.

    Nope, turns out one of the long clutch spring bolts was bent causing uneven pressure on the plates. So grabbing a little bit, and I gave some pics of why it had a whine on the first start.....

    So I think this is the main culprit for the uneven pressure.

    It's bent right at the thread.

    Below is what I am furious at myself about.

    So turns out the whine the bike had at first was 2 of the clutch spring washers cutting thru this part of the clutch cover...... I thought the noise was because I tightened the alternator chain as it settled pretty quickly. So now I have some nice metal shavings floating about. Anyone think it would just have turned to a superfine dust?

    Just have to hope i didn't do some more damage to the clutch itself.

    1937 Royal Enfield 250, CF Moto 250 V5, Honda's XL250, CBR250, FT500 plus a few others.
    Is there a sump you can take off and give the gearbox a good flush with kero/diesel ? Two or three flushes then blow out with air, refill with new oil and filter. Run it for about 20Km and change oil and filter again.

    yep, i agree with murdo. a few flushes should clean out the alloy dust.
