How are the carb boots ? And the hoses that run between them ?

You must have a massive air leak somewhere

    Just fine.
    Brand new.

If I do, I've no clue where it is. It idles great, runs solid- just needs way more air than it could get thru that tiny hole and the OEM spark arrester in the lid.

With your air fuel screws , do you have the screw, spring, steel washer and rubber washer ..... in that order ?

What plugs are you running ?

I believe that order is correct but I haven't had those parts in my hand today. Replaced in order they came out tho. Will doublecheck plug ID when I get home- ordered the ones in the manual tho IIRC.

Dunno about properly, @ruckusman! I live in a fairly rural location and already loathe the local shop after a couple of years on a bike (please, tell me again about the 27 year old OEM tyres - that I actually know are 11 years old by, oh I don't know, actually LOOKING at the manufacture numbers on the tyre all my by myself - on a 21 year old bike, I'm totally sold and will buy all your services now! LOL!) so I'm trying to learn everything I can. I do like nice things though. I'd rather pay $200 for a thing now than have to replace a $20 thing 50 times.

Not single, and no sisters...just a stupid amount of brothers. Inconsiderate, if you ask me. I mentioned to mum as a teenager, but no...she gave me another brother. Rude. Slightly more disturbingly....I apparently was supposed to be a twin. Guess I won?

I get stupidly attached to my vehicles, @Murdo. Apparently, I'm worse with bikes than I ever was with cars! I'm still constantly a second away from asking the new owner to sell me Bikelette back when he's done. Erk. I don't need Bikelette! She's a total pain in the ass with that headwind on my way to work. Arrrrggghhh! At least I'm done sulking and actually worked on Mia today.

Soooo...I was sort of forced to stop sulking today. My very dear husband was like "you need the brake lines off today, right? I'm home, I'll help with that." Yeh. I'm totally busy having coffee and wearing my dressing gown. *sigh* Dammit. I knew getting that me a pretty new bike lift yesterday was just a rouse to stop me sulking. Grrr. He's only here a day and a half a week and look at the drama he causes. :p

When I had my temper tantrum after Bikelette was sold I took off some of the easier bits. Today I stripped her. Aww...look at those pretty fairings....and exhaust...and trunk. Hmm. Well...I mean I did need to replace the air filter...the trunk though? Yeh, pretty sure that's misdirected sad panda-ness.

    mEDAnfAl.jpg

Yeh, most nakedest naked bike ever. Mirrors and indicators are clearly for wimps. Not even a panda in sight. Sad panda. Wood is a totally valid chock. Yes it is.

    kTVVPcxl.jpg

Still has purple. Fender totally counts. Got the brake lines off, which was today's goal.

    FwcnMRol.jpg

Technically off. Yes, I know I still have stuff to do...as always. Apparently there's a local place that does braided lines. I have tomorrow off. So, I guess the stuff I need to do will be done tomorrow.

Finally...I didn't really do it today, but I did open it today. It arrived the day Bikelette sold. Looks incredible close up. This is going to be Mia's tankpad.

It's the witches from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. The one in the middle is Granny Weatherwax - a total badass and my role model. She'd definitely be riding a bike if it weren't for the obligatory witch's broom. :neo:

Yeh, I'm totally in love with it. It came out so much better than I thought it would. I'm now thinking of doing tank grips with A'Tuin on each side. Nerd, I know.

So, today I did actually drop off the old brake lines locally so they can use them as a template for the new ones. They're not going to be purple. Since they'll be ready by Wednesday, I can live with that. Did get something else that was purple today though.

Bike's in pieces, but hey, I got something pretty. Priorities, right?

And I found a really good tank for the VTR so I cancelled the repairs on the original tank.

    Madness I say, madness!
I left work Friday afternoon to pack for a weekend trip to collect some bikes - about 1600km round-trip. After some details, like rewiring the trailer plug, I was on my way. To somewhere... I packed a swag so I was sleeping on the side of the road. Sleeping might be exaggerating, it was cold. So much so that I got up at about half past 3 in morning and started off again. A few other delays, like forgetting to get cash out before arriving at the seller's place, but all in all, it was a good trip. The only roo I hit (it was full moon) was just its tail. There were a few dead roos around, so very lucky. The trip went well enough that I even made it home for church. Now I have 1 and 2 half bikes... extra bikes. Time to get some things done and move some bikes on.

Couldn't work out what the noise was on the Triumph. So called the Good Doctor in for a health check....

Turns out to be - noisy bearings on the alternator.... time to rebuild it...

Aren't you lucky to have "the good doctor" who makes house calls.
    But the big question is....
    Does he bulk bill.

I bought a 03 CR250 earlier this year however it was a total turd - so many issues with it that I won't even begin to mention them.

Last week I saw a CRF450 for sale for an odd price. I bargained the guy down and picked it up the next night. The crankcase is cracked and shattered near the output shaft. But it has a lot of nice parts including black excel rims in really good condition and an oversize front brake rotor.

    19051353_763160813844879_2595988897829748736_n.jpg

I was pulling it apart to evaluate if it was worth fixing, or scavenging parts for the CR250 (I want the fork and wheels). Hit a major road block with the swing arm bolt. The previous owner must have never taken it out because it was stuck!

After applying heat and WD-40 to no avail I had to get creative as shown below. A crankcase splitter is a very versatile tool. A sledge hammer too! Now I can take apart the engine and see what went wrong and what to do next...
